"pedestial"??--Perhaps the word you're looking for there is "pedestrian." Unlike the other review here, I would not be inclined to review this biog harshly. It's a good effort put together by the women (Kelly Alexander and Cynthia Harris) who archived Paddleford's collection of papers housed at Manhattan, Kansas. From there, they wrote her biography.
OK, is it the best biography ever? Probably not, but it's the best one that will ever be written about this interesting woman, and it gets the job done, adding good notes, references, and an index, plus interesting photos. I believe Alexander and Harris were successful in what they were trying to do, that is, to write a biography about an interesting albeit minor character. Had they been show more trying to write a biography of a major cultural icon, then I think harsher criticism would be warranted. But really, who can resist someone with a name like Clementine Paddleford? I appreciate the fact that this biog is available. show less
