The Alan Paton Award — named for the author of Cry, The Beloved Country — has been conferred annually since 1989 for meritorious works of non-fiction. The award is named for Alan Paton, author of Cry, The Beloved Country. The award is given in conjunction with The Sunday Times Fiction Prize.
