I’m in.
I’ll be reading and recovering from a wicked sore throat. I’m at my sister’s and she has it too. Was going home today but can’t manage the drive yet.

I have 4 ebooks on my phone. I think l’ll start with Someone Else’s Shoes,
J Moyes.
I need a new audio book too.

Cream of wheat & tea for a late breakfast. That’s about all l could swallow.

I'm in! Not sure yet what-all I'll tackle this weekend, but will probably at least begin The Piano Shop on the Left Bank: Discovering a Forgotten Passion in a Paris Atelier. I've got a few naval history/memoir type books on the TBR list, and I'd still like to read Behind the Scenes: or, Thirty Years a Slave, and Four Years in the White House before the end of the month for the Non-fiction challenge. We'll see what strikes my fancy!

Comfort food that my mom used to give me. 🙂

Fri evening.

Books:
Still reading short stories every day.
Today’s stories were from
The Storytellers: Folktales and Legends from the South and
The Real and the Unreal: the Selected Short Stories of Ursula K. Le Guin

Dinner was soup and bread.

Today was sort of a bust. I mostly slept and tried various sore throat remedies -
Numi throat-soother tea, Ricola cough
drops, fruit juice popsicles, and gargling warm salt water.

Saturday report
Books read from: Loki's Ring by Stina Leicht. Good Girls Revolt by Lynn Povich. Last House Before the Mountain by Monika Helfer. Wizard's Guide to Defense Baking by T Kingfisher. I am listening to Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman and Summer Before the War by Helen Simonson.

Books finished: Loki's Ring by Stina Leicht. Wizard's Guide to Defense Baking by T Kingfisher and Britt-Marie Was Here by Fredrik Backman.

Book Thoughts: Loki's Ring turned out to be a disappointment. I had really enjoyed Persephone Station but Loki's Ring was not of the same caliber. I finished listening to Britt-Marie Was Here and really enjoyed it. Backman rights such good sports stories. This one was about soccer and great fun. Wizards Guide to Defense Baking was also a great good Middle Grades fantasy novel. It was so much fun that I laughed out loud while reading it. You gotta love a book that has "Siege! Sorcery! Sourdough!" right on the cover.

Non-Book activities: I was felled by a pestilence this week and spent Thursday and Friday in bed. That gave me lots of reading time, so read I did. I have to say that I enjoyed every minute of the napping and reading that I did. It was just too bad that I didn't feel better. I am now coughing and blowing my nose, and baking two more King Cake's today for potlucks. I am also going to wash bed sheets and remake the bed. Two days in bed means lots of work when you finally feel better.

Time reading: 1 hour today
Time posting:
Food: Baking King Cake's for tomorrow's potluck.

>13 nrmay: gargling with warm salt water was my mom's cure for sore throat.

I recall when my dad gave me a shot of whisky (Jim Beam or Jack Daniels, strong stuff), told me to gargle but NOT swallow. Ick. It not only burned out the sore throat, it made my entire mouth numb. I was about 10.

My grandmother used honey and lemon juice mixed together.

>20 wimew111: I have that Leguin on my shelves, need to read it.

I did my taxes, puttered around the house and yard, and read from Visitor. Didn't finish it but it's pretty big.
