{my thoughts} - The description within this book is amazing. I again was not let down. I truly enjoyed the storyline and cannot wait to read the next story in the series. I promise you will not be disappointed if you read this book.

Clary is still on a mission to save her mother. Jace and the Lightwoods are on their way to Alicante the Shadowhunter City. She is suppose to go with Jace makes everyone leave before she has a chance to go. She does what any reckless ruin writing Shadowhunter would do she makes her own portal to get there. She is mostly a recipe for disaster when it comes to her desire to do as she pleases when she pleases. Given, that is her nature this book takes us on an interesting journey with some twists and turns that really help to contribute to the essential story line.

{reason for reading} -I had a lot of friends that were raving about these books so I read them based on the belief that they were probably a good set of books and I have to agree they were a really good read. ( )

A great conclusion to the trilogy. I really enjoyed meeting new characters and heading to Edris and Alicante. I also appreciated that Alec and Magnus finally got together and the fact that Clary and Jace learned to truth about their relationship. ( )

The story ends satisfactorily here. As I said about the previous books, this is a reasonably entertaining young adult urban fantasy. The characters are interesting, if not too deep, and the same can be said of the worldbuilding. The plot was good, with some family drama that captured my attention. My main complaint is how typical it is, with its teenage female main character who discovers her family was part of a supernatural community, and finds herself in a love triangle with the likable, non-threatening good-boy geek and the wisecracking, "dangerous" bad-boy. It's entertaining, but not memorable. ( )

Soon as I finished I had to order book 4, I orginally read book 1 years ago and put it down midway then when Shadow hunters came out I was caught up in that but then I was like the books have to explain further and to my surprise the books were completely different and boom it was like a whole another story unfold and I can't stop reading the series. ❤ ( )

3.0 Stars for City of Glass. Spoilers possible.

Much like the last book, there were a lot of recurring issues with this series and the writing. Even though Jace and Clary learn they are not siblings (at the end of the book), we still are forced to suffer through another awkward books worth of their star-crossed infatuation with one another. As before, they don't actually spend enough time together to develop believable feelings or even know each other. As a romance, the books are weak. This says nothing of the minor romances which are understandably not the focus.

The action and climactic events in this book are entertaining. The city of glass as a new destination helped pique my interest in what was happening. In contrast, the writing and particularly the characterizations and the dialog between characters did not improve. Several times it felt as though characters were repeating things they had already said to one another. I also take issue with the death of Max. I don't think the sorrow and anguish that his family and others would feel was accurately portrayed and some of them were left seeming callous in their disregard.

Overall, I think the story isn't my problem. It is the finer details of the writing and the characters themselves. ( )
