10 Great Dates was not what I expected. I was under the impression that there would be more practical advice and tips, but the book emphasized more on the spiritual aspect of a relationship. That in itself is not a problem, but I did find the material rather simplistic. I did not get a chance to go through the material with my spouse, which seems to be the intention of the book and would try that a some point in the future to see if that adds a different dimension to the experience. Overall show more a solid book, but nothing overly inspiring or illuminating. show less

I counsel and work with pre-marital and married couples. This might make a good gift for those who have completed the Prepare/Enrich premarital counseling as a way to continue to develop their relationship and communication with each others, as well as deepen the impact their faith has on them as individuals and as a couple. I like the date ideas, the writing is clear, the directions are clear, the suggestions seem to be helpful and on target. It is well written and easy to follow. This show more could be very useful and encouraging to a couple who already have good communication and rapport around spiritual issues. But, would I really call these dates? And would a couple who hasn't talked about spiritual things and maybe have never even prayed together find this helpful? Is this yet another book that wives will need to figure out how to get their husband engaged. I was anticipating more special activity-type dates. I have not read any of their other books by a similar name. show less

I received this book as an Early Review copy, and am unfamiliar with the other "Great Date" books. I am always looking for ways to make the marriage God has given to me and my husband even better. This book delves into the realm of spiritual intimacy, an area rarely discussed because so many marriages need to address some basics of communication and respect. Some of the topics covered in the 10 dates described in the book were an encouragement to me of the existing spiritual relationship show more that already exists in our marriage. Other topics are areas where we could grow closer together and to our Lord. While this book does give insight into the spiritual aspect of marriage, it does not cover every topic that might be necessary for a struggling marriage. It seems to assume or build upon a reasonably healthy marriage. I read through the book first, and am now looking forward to discussing the material on dates with my dear husband. show less
