Emily Ratajkowski

This was, unfortunately, just as tough of a listen as I expected. Emily’s narration is rich with emotion, and you can hear the rawness in her voice as she recounts her experiences. The entitlement to a woman’s body beyond what she chooses to share is infuriating and heartbreaking. I cried with her. It hurts to know we still live in a world where men feel this level of entitlement over women. There were moments when I thought she might be unrelatable, but she shared her insecurities and show more reflections in a way that made her feel incredibly human. What might seem at first like a collection of personal essays is, at its core, a feminist manifesto. It’s powerful, painful, and inspiring, and I’m glad she chose to share it. show less

i think this collection of essays had a lot of potential that unfortunately fell short for me. i found myself on more than one occasion wishing she would take a thread and go MUCH deeper with it. however, i did enjoy her writing (& also listened to the audiobook that she narrated, which i would recommend) and would pick up other published works from her in the future (& am hoping it grows and evolves into something more powerful, i think she has it in her).

ayer termine este libro. Yo estoy recién empezando a leer y meterme en este mundo, la verdad fue un libro hermoso, fue mi elegido de enero. Disfrute mucho leerlo y me dio una perspectiva mas cruda y real de lo que es ser modelo y trabajar de tu cuerpo en esta sociedad. Me gusto el relato y todas las anécdotas que Emily contó.

Simply incredible. Any reservations one may have about Ratajkowski as a writer because of her modeling career should put those reservations aside because Ratajkowski has proven what a talented writer she is with these essays and her voice should be welcomed by all.
