Robert Wicks has a deeply authentic spirituality that comes across in all his books. This book offers practical guidance and stories from Wicks's own life that can aid others in their efforts to develop more prayerfulness in daily life. Especially good to have a solid spiritual practice when one becomes ill or infirm -- as the late Joseph Cardinal Bernardin said, [paraphrased] "It's important to build a prayer life *before* you get sick, because it is difficult to make room for prayer when show more you are ill."
Audience: Any person of faith who wants to develop a deeper prayer life and sense of groundedness in their faith will benefit from reading this book. Agnostics might also achieve some clarity around the role of faith in others' lives. show less

Sensitivity is an essential attitude for caring people in a harsh world. In this practical and hopeful book Robert Wicks carefully leads us on the path of sensitivity, encouraging us not to withdraw from the darkness in our world and in our hearts.
The book encourages and enables readers to discover simplicity and single-mindedness in the midst of life's turmoil. The author takes readers on a deliberate journey, teaching them how to reflect on the way they think, asking them to see with their imaginations, prompting them to serve others and encouraging them to experience God through their emotions.
An excellent primer on developing your spiritual life. It is easy to read & breaks the disciplines up into "bite-sized" pieces. The author's approach is very down-to-earth, allowing the reader to see that this is a "do-able" thing. Highly recommended to anyone wishing to improve their spiritual life.
