a selection of brief gay fiction pieces that offer diverse viewpoints on and about gay men. Selections that are realistic and lyrical, covering a wide range of gay culture. The writing is always of the highest caliber.
Second in a series of collected short fiction depicting the varieties of gay life. Particularly good mix of well-known and newer authors providing quality fiction. Some of my favorites include James Purdy and Allan Gurganus.
Stambolian's second anthology of gay fiction, representing 18 writers, reveals a broad range of subjects and settings: a gay man reflects on his pained relations with his father in Gary Glickman's moving and graceful 'Magic'; Joseph Pintauro's 'Jungle Dove' focuses on straight male prisoners coerced into sex with each other; a married, bisexual schools superintendent narrates Allan Gurganus's 'Adult Art.'
Good Collection of gay male fiction.
These books and the others like them are like time capsules. The essay by Felice Picano is especially worth the read. Was also my first introduction to Matthew Stadler whom is one of my favorite authors today.
