This is a rather disappointing book, especially given that it was written by an acknowledged expert in the field. The first half is somewhat confusing, and overall there is perhaps too much focus on parliamentary politics and not the king himself. One other problem is that the copious references are done in a way which interferes with readibility in such a compact text.
This is a really fascinating book about the Bronte (Brunty) ancestors in Ireland, and up to the point that they move into the rectory in Haworth where the classics were written. If you have any interest in the Bronte sisters, I think this is a must read. It is a short book, but the information it gives about the Brunty family in Ireland gives the reader a whole new look at Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, etc. Could not put this one down.
Yet another great resource for students of British history. Shows them all from beginning to present
The rich pageant of Britain's history emerges nowhere more colorfully than in the story of its kings and queens. This spectacular book offers the most authoritative account of the British monarchy ever published for the general reader. With over 400 illustrations—a third of them in color—it traces the crown's full history from Anglo-Saxon times to the present.
