I have a much used 1957 copy of this book which my grandmother used to read to me before I was in school. It's a wonderful selection of poems I have loved since I was a child. Some of these poems I still go back and read today. Many of them I memorized as a child and still remember.
Here's another family favorite that belonged to my aunt and was gifted throughout the years. It contains over 700 poems from an abundance of different authors. This is a great one to read to children. One of my favorites is, Here We Come A-Caroling, which has an anonymous author, but one that I can read and reminisce Perry Como singing at Christmas time. One to keep ♡

I recommend this book as a baby shower gift to encourage new parents to read poetry to their children. My first copy was purchased when I was in college and a third generation of children are not being introduced to the beauty and fun of good poetry. To this day, you adult children can recite the story of Belinda and the Cowardly Dragon.
Good anthology of poetry, (still in print), including narrative poetry
