This is the second book in the Asylum for the Mechanically Insane. These books MUST be read in order as the books build upon each other. It is a serial of steampunk, horror, and romance.
Captain Moreton has been sent to recuperate and observe what is being accomplished by the scientists at Harbury Hall in regards in airships. While there he again meets his one true love, Mrs. Vivienne Stanton-Foley, now a widow and mistress to an Indian warlord, Thakur Sahib Kerala. Kerala wants to see what show more his money is being spent on at Harbury Hall's laboratories. Dr. Ringwood has been working on an explosive device that Kerala wants to take back to India. Ringwood, however, has other ideas about how to use this device--ideas about how much more money he could get for it.
I like the heroic characters in Destruction. Captain Moreton is a hero who should not be alive but somehow he survived. I like Vivienne. She knows she must do what she can to survive in this world. She also knows her choices did not make her popular and lives with the choices she made. Now it looks like she and the Captain may be able to change the course of their lives.
Again Portia and Inspector Burke are investigating what is happening at Harbury Hall and how much the current Lord and Lady have to do with the disappearances and deaths that are happening there. Portia's connection to the prisoner also strengthens and she is determined to free him. Again the villains are hiss-worthy here. Dr. Ringwood and Thakur Sahib Kerala deserve each other. Creepy!
I look forward to book 3. show less

Toni Sinclair is stuck between a rock and a…rock. The hard place is about to show up. After she blows her top at her scummy sexually harassing boss and storms out she wonders how the hell she’s going to find another job and pay down her pile of debt. Lucky for her she runs into a successful adult film actress. Suze thinks Toni has what it takes, so she gives her a number to call. Is Toni desperate enough to dial show more that number?
Well-written with depth to the characters this isn’t porn about the porn industry. This is a romance that happens while filming porn. Toni and cameraman Paul Whittaker fall for each other a bit quick, but considering the circumstances it’s forgivable. A little on the short side (the story, not *ahem* other things) it’s a quick naughty read with lots of heart. show less

HOLY CRACKERS! THAT WAS SOME HOT SHORT STORY!
Seriously, who can stuff a sweet second-chance romance and scorching hot lovemaking sessions within 40 pages and make the story so achingly adorable?
Sarah Kelly, obviously can.
Oh and the models on the cover totally fit the description, which is something uncommon.

Oliver receives a note from a seller of snuffboxes which he collects. Allegra goes to her brother's right before a snowstorm hits on Christmas Eve. Calling for a carriage for Allegra to go home, one stops in front of Allegra, and she enters it. It is she finds Oliver and no handles. Oliver had offered for her hand three years previously, but she turned him down. Now, locked in a carriage until the come to inn Oliver was to go, they have time to think over the past and talk. When they arrive show more at the inn, there seems to be no one there but the fire is lit and a room is waiting for them. What is going on? Are they being kidnapped? Will the scandal force them to marry?
I enjoyed this Regency tale. I liked Oliver and Allegra. She is very outspoken. Oliver seems staid but there is more to him than Allegra knows. That may be why she turned him down. Now they are presented with a riddle which they must solve. I liked how methodical they were. Sparks of humor flowed from them as did sparks of passion. I enjoyed the inn's visitors. I also liked how Oliver knew exactly where what they were looking for belonged. These two are a good couple.
