When Bella, a student from the Jazz Dance School, comes to visit the Royal Academy of Fairy Ballet, she is assigned to room with best friends Nina and Peri. When Nina and Bella become good friends, Peri must put aside her jealousy in order to help Bella, who is not exactly who she seems to be, achieve her dreams. This charming transitional chapter book will be sure to appeal to second through fourth grade girls, with its cast of fairy characters who dream of being star ballerinas. The plot show more is simple yet well paced, with a well-resolved ending. The world of the Royal Academy of Fairy Ballet is well-drawn and full of whimsical details. The text also uses real ballet terms, while unobtrusively defining them within the text, which will both appeal to children currently enrolled in ballet classes and make the book accessible to non-dancers. This book models an important lesson about jealousy and making new friends especially appropriate to its elementary school target audience. show less
A lovely book for teens and one which deals with major tensions within one family. It is set in Cornwall and the author's love of the county really shines through in her descriptions. Many thanks to the publisher for sending a copy to me.
It was a interesting book choice that i would give out to third or fourth graders who like some good goofs and goggles as well as mystery.
