Very impressive, story/period-based history of the Peace Corps. Instructive and explains the history and purpose of the organization very clearly, and how it still serves as an impressive force for good.
Kofi Annan is an often overlooked world leaders. Stanley Meisler followed the United Nations politics and people as an LA Times reporter. In his book he writes about Annan's rise to Secretary General, including his early years and his various posts in the United Nations and his personal sacrifices and downfalls giving readers a real view of Annan. If you like biographies, world politics, or non-fiction-- this is one to read.
I didn't know much, if anything, about Soutine, so I found the book interesting. I just don't understand the title. Is "shocking" a verb or an adjective?
