OK, I guess I forgive Sophie for using a reader other than Jayne Entwistle. Rosalyn Landon does a fine job with this. I like Sophie's humor, though this one has a wee bit more serious tone (which might be why it was OK not hearing Jayne's delivery). This is light reading/listening which is probably why I finished it faster than usual.

I found myself frequently wondering how Jayne Entwistle might have read this one, as Fiona Hardingham was sounding more strident and angry than I felt a protagonist in a comedy should. I kept re-running her lines in a lighter delivery, but either I got used to it or it evened out as the story developed. When all was said and done I felt it'd been an enjoyable and interesting read.

Another great pairing of Sophie Kinsella and Jayne Entwistle! Jayne really captures the characters in her reading of this fun story about a young British physiotherapist engaged to be married in a matter of weeks to a man she's known a matter of months. Things get interesting from the start when her engagement ring goes missing and her cell phone is yanked from her hand by a thieving bicyclist as she's hailing a taxi. Admittedly light Summer reading (or listening) chick lit., I found this to be a fun listen.… (more)

This story held my attention. I'm detecting a pattern with this author of a somewhat didactic nature. So perhaps it's surprising that I'm also seeing a pattern with vengeful protagonists. I didn't see it so much in "I've got your number", but in the last two stories "pay back" has been a fairly strong element--it's not all pervading though and it seems to be part of the characters' evolution, so I probably can't fault it.
