If you can read this book, if you can look at the pictures, and not cry, you are not human. Smith documents the slow poisoning of the people of Minamata through methyl mercury, and other compounds, dumped into the bay by the Chisso Coporation. Smith, the godfather of photojounalisim, created this work by living with the people of Minamata, sharing their food and sharing their misery. A fitting final tribute to this master photographer.
