This is a series of Regency romances. The "Weaver" is Ethan Brundy, ne Crump, an illegitimate orphan placed in a workhouse after his mother's death when he is six. Sent to a mill to earn his keep, he impressed the mill owner, Mr. Brundy, who becomes a mentor and left his mill and fortune to Ethan on the condition that he take the surname Brundy. At age twenty-eight, Ethan is a good employer, a shrewd investor, and one of the wealthiest men in England.Ethan and some aristocratic friends, Lord David Markham and Aubrey Tabor are attending a production of Hamlet at Covent Gardens when he is smitten at first sight by the beautiful Lady Helen Radney, daughter of the Duke of Reddington. Her father has gambled away almost all his wealth, and upon hearing the settlement that Ethan is offering, informs his daughter that she will marry Mr. Brundy or get a job. Helen is contemptuous of her husband, but his integrity, kindness, and imperturbability win her over. (English, Unclassified)
