We need a thread to organize our group reads for the year. Here's where we'll announce and plan them as they come up.

Note, we're trying a new thing - there's significant overlap with the membership of the 13 in 13 Challenge group, so we're forming a joint wiki. Folks from either group are welcome to participate in any group read from either group. It's an experiment, so a little patience may be needed as we figure out how to do this... :)

Apparently I (or someone else) have already put Eye of the World, the first in Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time (WoT) series in for June, in preparation for the WoT group read.

I'm thinking one every couple of months, because they swiftly become chunksters a bit further on in the series - or we can see how it goes at the time?

I am planning on hosting a Atwood April. It will be open-ended. Read what ever you want. Many LTers seem to be interested in this one. I have at least 2 or 3 I would love to get to. The thread is not up yet.

I am hosting a Group Read of The Big Rock Candy Mountain by Wallace Stegner. This will probably launch on the 15th of March. Plenty of time to track a copy down. I'll create the G.R. thread soon. If you have not read Stegner, this is your chance.

Yes, it's time for May: Murder & Mayhem. If you are like me you have a huge stack of crime/mystery books to get to, so here's a chance to knock out a few. We always have a good time over there.

Rhonda- I think a Group Read of the Orphan Master's Son is an excellent idea. I read it early last year and it was excellent and would be an ideal G.R. selection.

An update on the Wheel of Time group read : I won't be able to get hold of my books as soon as I'd thought, so I'm going to postpone the start date a bit.

How about
The Eye of the World in July / August
The Great Hunt in September / October
The Dragon Reborn in November / December

And if anyone wants to get a head start, I will graciously ;0) allow you to read A New Spring in June, which I thought was a refreshing addition to the cycle.

Is anyone intetested in a group read ofA game of thrones? I keep meaning to read it, but then being put off by the sheer size of it. If I commit to read it with someone, I might actually start it, rather than just looking at it. Probably starting August, if that's any good to anyone?
