I've finished Any Given Doomsday and would be happy to pass it along if anyone is interested. Just drop me a note on my profile.
If, by chance, someone has a copy of Catherine Jinks' book Babylonne that they are finished with I'd be VERY interested. Not sure what I'd trade (Any Given Doomsday was my first ER book), but I am on BookMooch and would happily hand over a point (or two) for it :-)

Over on Myspace I am friends with HarperCollins publishing and they've taken up sending ARCs to their friends. Although I love the idea of free books and would never complain, they obviously do not use any sort of algorithm to make sure the book and reader might be compatible. Day before yesterday I received Quarrel with the King by Adam Nicolson which I'm sure someone would love, but it is just not my cup of tea. I highly doubt I'd be able to finish the book. If anyone would be interested in reading and reviewing the book (I say reviewing because I kind of feel bad about not doing it myself) please post a note on my profile.
BTW-still waiting on and wanting a copy of Babylonne by Catherine Jinks although I know it is coming out this month and I should be able to buy it soon enough.

I have two ARCs I'd like to trade:
--The Watercooler Effect--an ARC of a non-fiction book about rumors (why we tell them, when do we believe them, what are their effects, etc.) along the lines of Blink or the Tipping Point
--Freeman Walker--an ER ARC from last month. Historical fiction about a son of a white plantation owner and a female slave. Very well-done, I thought.
Please PM me if you're interested. I generally prefer trades so as not to have to exchange money for postage. (U.S.-only please.)

I saw your post onthat you were looking to swap for a copy of Blood, Sweat and Tea. Your post was way back in Sept. Are you still looking for a copy?
I just dropped my copy off at my laundromat this morning. I'll swing by tomorrow to see if it still there. If it is, it's your's for the taking.

In October I received The Book of Names by D. Barkley Briggs from Bostick Communications which I have read and reviewed. It is a fantasy along the lines of the Narnia series. Although I enjoyed it I am trying to weed out my shelves and don't think it is one I'll re-read.
If anyone is interested please leave me a note on my profile.

I have a bunch of ARCs and audios that need new homes:
Misadventures of Oliver Booth
Alex and Me
Roads to Quoz - unabridged audio
Travel Writing - unabridged audio
Things the Grandchildren Should Know - unabridged audio
A Most Wanted Man - abridged audio
I managed to snag a copy of Irish Country Christmas so I don't need that anymore. I am still looking for Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet , Book of Unholy Mischief, Finding Nouf, anything by Colin Cotterill, and anything else I haven't read!
hmm, touchstones not working, how do I fix that?

Not asking for any but recommending highly the copy of Things The Grandchildren Should Know that frisbeesage is offering in #34.
I read the book awhile ago and really enjoyed it, although that isn't the right word for this particular book. The author was articulate and charming though and I took to him. Well worth at look at (or listen to in this case).

Hi, I'm looking to trade, and I've got the following books to trade:
Etta by Gerald Kolpan (an ER ARC I snagged for November but received two copies of by mistake--looks like it's going to be a big book. Description: "Debut author Gerald Kolpan brings to life the extraordinary story of one of the twentieth century's most beautiful, brave, and mysterious women--as it might have been lived. Next to nothing is known about the real Etta Place--where she came from, what her real name was, or what became of her after her legendary romance with the Sundance Kid. This spellbinding novel imagines that Etta is a Pliladelphia debutante whose father's death leaves her orphaned, bankrupt, and a target of the infamous Blank Hand mafia. She then fells west using an alias...")
Immortal by Traci Slatton (a finished paperback I received from a publisher. Description: In the magestic heart of Florence, a beautiful golden-haired boy is abandoned and subjected to cruelty beyond words. But Luca Bastardo is anything but an ordinary boy. Across two centuries of passion and intrigue, Luca will discover an astonishing gift--one that will lead him to embrace the ancient mysteries of alchemy and healing to become a trusted confidant to the powerful Medicis...even as he faces persecution from a sadistic cabal determined to wrest his secrets for themselves.")
The Fireman's Wife by Jack Riggs (an ER ARC I snagged for October. Description: "An unflinching look at motherhood, heroism, love and loss, and the unexpected consequences of our most essential human choices, from the award-winning author of When the Finch Rises.")
Freeman Walker by David Allan Cates (an ER ARC I snagged for September, I think. Description: As the age of seven a mulatto slave boy, Jimmy Gates, is freed by his owner-father, separated from his mother and everything he holds dear, and sent to England for an education. Four years later when his father drowns at sea, leaving him bereft, Jimmy is apprenticed to a London workhouse where he spends six difficult years making saddles, reading heroic novels to his companions, finding the comfort of prostitutes, and discovering the inspirational speeches of an Irish revolutionary. At eighteen, dreaming himself a warrior and a hero, he returns to the States hoping to rescue his mother.")
PM me if you're interested in trading for any of these four books.
Thanks!

Hi, I'm looking to trade, and I've got the following books to trade:
A Dangerous Affair by Caro Peacock (an ARC I snagged from HarperCollins via First Look. This is an entertaining historical mystery set in Victorian London. Description: After her world has been turned upside down, Liberty Lane is now trying to find her way in early Victorian London. A public fight between two of London't most beautiful dancers has amused fashionable sociate--until one is dead from poison and the other is facing the hangman's noose. With the help of some of London's most prominent citizens--including Disraeli himself--Liberty decides to intervene, enen though it is against her own best interests and causes her heartache.)

I'm still looking for a home for The Fireman's Wife by Jack Riggs, an ER ARC I snagged for October and quite liked. Description: "An unflinching look at motherhood, heroism, love and loss, and the unexpected consequences of our most essential human choices, from the award-winning author of When the Finch Rises."
I've also got an ARC of Some of the Dead are Still Breathing by Charles Bowden. This one isn't scheduled to be published until April of this year, so you can read this long before it hits stores. It's non-fiction, and I'd describe it as a collection of intelligent musings about the current troubled state of the world. Here's the Amazon description: "In this seminal book, Bowden turns his fearless gaze toward the future—the future we can feel hurtling toward us, as fuel reserves dwindle, species die out, terrorism flourishes, the Earth warms, and our ability to be fully awake—alert and impassioned in our lives—wanes. Weaving together natural history, memoir, reportage, and sheer virtuosic writing, he takes us on a furious tour of our emerging reality, his observations from the borderlands—of nations, laws, species, and desire—all the more searing for his refusal to be our scourge. Bowden has always had the gift of prophecy, but Some of the Dead Are Still Breathing is proof that the times have caught up with his vision, and need it now more than ever."
Ideally, I'd like to trade these books to keep whole on the postage. My other ARCs listed in message 48 above have been traded.
PM me if you're interested. Thanks!

I would love to trade for Nancy Tingley's Buddhas- funny, although I've got several of my Buddha books in my LT the "will you like it" doohickey says I'd not like it at all.
I'm not the most active of LT'ers so I'm not sure of the protocol of trading here, but I am thinking that I could look at your WishList here or elsewhere-(I have more books than I've got days left on this planet :)... ) so I could probably find a few that you are needing in return.
(I am personally not on BM and such at this time as the various times I have browse/searched I have found nothing I desire to be listed at all and frankly do not expect this book to show up there at all.)

I have a book I received through Bostick Communications for review called Secrets Unveiled (no touchstone) by Sheshena Pledger. As it was promoted as a young adult novel, albeit as one about a crime family, I was a bit surprised by the graphic violence in the first few chapters. It isn't my cup of tea at all and although I feel bad about it, I really don't want to read the story. I would like to pass this on to someone who has more of an interest in this genre. I'd say it is probably more of a crime family, gritty thriller type of story and not a young adult novel at all. I do ask that anyone who requests the book post a review and perhaps drop a note to the author when the review is posted. Her email will be included in the promotional blurb with the book.
If you're interested please post a note on my profile.

This is just a quick note to say that I love reading, and I also like to give reviews. Unfortunately, because I live in France, there are not many ER/Giveaways coming my way, so if you feel that you could send me a book you like to review, even if by surface mail, I'd be ever so grateful! If anyone wants to find a new home for their copy of The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, I would be happy to figure out a trade. I have an extra copy of The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane, but I'm open to suggestions.

I have the following ARCs available for trade in the US (PM me if you're interested):
Hiding in the Spotlight: A Musical Prodigy's Story of Survival by Greg Dawson--Berdyansk, Ukraine 1931: At the age of six, Zhanna has developed a repertoire of a student twice her age, given her first public performance, and been offered scholarships to the most prestigious conservatories in the Soviet Union that had produced legends like Rachmaninoff and Horowitz. Then, disaster strikes. The Nazi Army is smashing through the Ukraine en route to Moscos. Zhanna and her family are to be executed alongside thousands of others in the ravines of Dorbitsky Yar. A few short miles from certain death, she escapes into the forest with only the clothes on her back and a copy of Chopin's Fantasy Impromptu in her pocket. Adopting a new identity and ever fearful of recognition, Zhanna roams the ravaged countryside. One lonely evening, the head oa a local Nazi battalion hears her play and is so taken with her exquisite talent that little Zhanna soon becomes the performing darling of the Nazi forces. A nocturne on the strength of the human spirit, Zhanna's story is powerful, haunting, and unforgettable.
Outcasts United by Warren St. John--Clarkston, Georgia was a fading Southern town until it was designated a settlement center for refugees in the 1990s, becoming the first American home for scores of families in flight from the world's war zones. The town also became home ot Luma Mufleh, an American-educated woman from Jordan, who volunteered to coach a youth soccer program for Clarkston's refugee children. They named themselves the Fugees. Originating in an acclaimed series of front-page articles in the New York Times, this is the long-awaited story of the Fugees, played out against the backdrop of an American town that, without its consent, had become a vast experiment in getting along. Driven by the fast-paced narrative of a season that saw the team and its young players pushed to the brink, Outcasts United is a brilliantly reported, moving chronicle of a small town struggling to become a global community, the resilience and hope of a group of young refugees, and how we find home in a changing world.
The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe--Connie Goodwin should be spending her summer doing research for her Ph.D. dissertation in American History. But when her mother asks her to handle the sale of Connie's grandmother's abandoned home near Salem, she's compelled to help. One day, while exploring the dusty bookshelves in the study, Connie discovers an ancient key, and within the key is a brittle slip of pper with tow workds written on it: Deliverance Dane. Along with a handsome steeplejack named Sam, Connie begins to reserach Deliverance Dane. But even as the pieces fall into place, Connie is haunted by visions of long ago, and she fears that she is more tied to Salem's dark past than shoe could have ever imagined.
Mistress Shakespeare by Karen Harper--Elizabethan beauty Anne Whateley records intimate details of her dangerous, daring life and her great love, William Shakespeare. As historical records show, Anne Whateley of Temple Grafton is betrothed to Will just days before he is forced to wed the pregnant Anne Hathaway. The secret Whateley-Shakespeare match is a meeting of hearts and heads that no one--not even Queen Elizabeth or her spymasters--can destroy. Often at odds, always in love, the couple sells Will's first palys, and as he climbs to theatrical power in England, they fight off fierce competition from other London dramatists, some as treacherous as they are talented. Persecution and plague, insurrection and inferno, friends and foes, even executions of those they hold dear, bring Anne's heartending story to live. Spanning half a century of Elizabethan and Jacobean history and sweeping from the lowest reaches of society to the royal court, this richly textured novel tells the real story of Shakespeare in love.
Etta by Gerald Kolpan--Debut author Gerald Kolpan brings to life the extraordinary story of one of the twentieth century's most beautiful, brave, and mysterious women--as it might have been lived. She then flees west using an alias: the name of the street on which she grew up. Weaving together diary entries, Pinkerton Detective Agency memos, newspaper articles, and historical documents (all richly imagined), Gerald Kolpan makes a fiction debut that is both captivating and unforgettable.
Some of the Dead are Still Breathing by Charles Bowden--I'd describe this one as a collection of intelligent musings about the current troubled state of the world.

If anyone would like my copy of The Tory Widow, please PM me and I will send it along.
I also have a copy of Royal Blood that I can send along. It is a trade paperback copy I received to review, but it's definitely not my sort of book. If anyone else enjoys paranormal Tudor romance, though, then let me know :-)
EDITED: Both these books have been claimed.

I have an ARC of Tongue: a novel that I'm happy to send out to anyone interested, either for a trade or not - it's a bit dog-eared, as I carried it in my handbag on a rainy day, but no tearing or staining! (I put my review up, if you're interested, and there are a few more.)

I would love to read Drake's Bay by Thomas Roberts if anyone is willing to part with their ER copy of it. I requested that my library purchase it and they refuse... apparently it doesn't meet some criteria or other which appears to be published reviews or great demand. What? Don't these people keep up with LTER? It was odd; first time I've gotten that sort of response from the library.
I'd gladly trade the hardcover of The Red Door by Charles Todd that I received today for Drake's Bay.
Will also look in member giveaway...
