I found many of these stories to be whiney and not that well-written. Very few women had positive experiences growing up Jewish in America. Letty Cottin Pogrebin's experiences with her father were quite interesting, as were Laura Cunningham's experiences with her grandmother. Unfortunately, the pieces by Grace Paley and Amy Bloom also disappointed me.
