Alexander W. Allison (1919–1973)

This is a very large compilation of classic poetry from the western canon. It works well to read a few at a time. Although it is over 1400 pages, there is lots of white space, so it does not take as long to read as the length may imply. There are numerous poets included in this book. Several of the more well-known names include Blake, Brooks, Browning (both), Burns, Byron, Campion, Dickinson, Donne, Frost, Hardy, Herbert, Herrick, Keats, Marlowe, Millay, Milton, Poe, Raleigh, Shakespeare, show more Shelley, Sidney, Stein, Tennyson, Wheatley, Whitman, Wordsworth, Wyatt, and Yeats. It was nice to revisit the poems I had read long ago, as well as experience a host of new-to-me poets and poems. It is a lovely collection. show less

An impressive anthology of dramas. Now I need to read it....
