Probably suitable for the education of children. Jim Weiss's work is popular among home schooling groups. Not really suitable for adults, though.
The best audiorecording on Chanukah we've found. Strictly historical, this telling still manages to be completely factual and correct both from a religious and social view. Weiss is a master storyteller, using language and voice to convey his tale enjoyably and profoundly to the listener. Whether you are Jewish or not, observant or not, if you have only one family audio recording about Chanukah, this should be the one.
Tell Me a Story, an audio collection for young children by award winning storyteller Jim Weiss, features the introductory song “Tell me a Story,” and six classic stories: “The Bremen Town Musicians,” “Goldilocks and the Three Bears,” “Things Could Always Be Worse,” “Rumpelstiltskin,” “The Little Red Hen,” and “The Hare and the Hedgehog.” With an approximate running time of one hour, Weiss’ warm voice and captivating delivery easily holds a child’s attention show more for the duration of the disc. Weiss takes familiar characters and infuses life into them using vocal excitement, laughter, sorrow, and surprise. A master storyteller, Weiss knows where to place emphasis and when to withdraw and allow his listeners to use their imagination. In terms of age appropriateness, based on my observations, children age three to eight will enjoy Weiss’ delivery of the stories on this disc. show less
My daughter and son have this book and have always loved hearing the stories… which makes me very happy. I know that there are so many different stories that are available now, so it makes me happy that she would still want to hear a classic that I grew up listening to.
