Executive Leadership: A Practical Guide to Managing Complexity (Developmental management) by Elliott Jaques
A very helpful seminal work for understanding the relationship of the level of complexity of work to the people who carry it out, and so also how they should be organized according to their capacity for said work. The requisite organization that is described is perhaps a little dated today, but the ideas in this work have had a substantial impact on how we do organization, and as such this is foundational material. There is an obvious academic/military bias to the text, which affects even show more the style of writing and presentation, but these are not major hurdles for an intentional intelligent reader. show less
a complex book that contains some of the most original thinking on org structuring that you will find anywhere.
A masterpiece, for all who want to study the indivuals at work from a psychooanalitic point of view
