A small collection of poems written by Bart Moeyaert, containing also the ones he wrote while he was city poet for Antwerp. Very nice play with words and feelings, however, moments of pure love or bonding were scarce. As if the emotional spectrum is a bit narrow, and the power of expressing these emotions is not explored to the fullest extent...
I do prefer the author's newer books. This one was written when he was still a teenager and well... it's noticable. The two main characters are cute, though, and it's quite easy to relate to them, but I was never really touched by the book in any way...
De wanhoop is tijdelijk voorbij is a beautifully published, cloth edition of a selection from the work of the Dutch poet Hans Lodeizen, selected and edited by Bart Moeyaert.
Hans Lodeizen remains a fairly unknown poet, although his name is well-known. He died young, aged 26, from leukemia in 1950. Much of his youth was spent under German occupation during the Second World War.
At just 70 pages, this booklet is but a teaser to readers unfamiliar with Lodeizen.

A Flemish import about revenge, sexual awakening, and other stuff in 1939 Belgium. Hard to imagine this having more than a quite limited audience.
