Catalogue to the exhibition: Royal Academy of Arts, 1979-80
Following the introduction the catalogue is arranged geographically by country or countries. The book includes a chronology, bibliography, and an index of artists.
428 works are catalogued and illustrated, each with a brief commentary, and there is a brief introductory paragraph for each artist. The catalogue includes 46 full-colour plates, either full of half page in size; in remaining illustrations are in black and white, mostly show more small images of the paintings. The monochromes run with the text an appear alongside the commentaries.
The colour plates are of good quality and large, the monochromes not so good; but this is a very useful book containing a wealth of information. show less
