George Platt Lynes: Photographs from the Kinsey Institute by James Crump

A beautiful selection of work by the pioneering gay photographer George Platt Lynes. Most of these photographs are poetic homoerotic male nudes, which show the way Lynes sought to capture an intensely erotic (and for the 1940s and 1950s extremely transgressive) image, he was no less interested in making timeless art. Wonderful fashion photos and portraits of such people as Dorothy Parker, Tennessee Williams and Christopher Isherwood are also included. A must-have for anyone interested in the show more "queer eye" of the mid-20th century. show less
