The book that answers the burning question: What if Jane Austen smoked pot?

This book's fixation with the intricate niceties of human interaction (or, at least, upper-class Turinese interaction) is almost maddening . . . but not quite enough to make this an impossible read.

A slight, but solid mystery/comedy of manners. Reading this novel can be slow going (it took me almost 2 weeks to finish), but the focus is very tight and it's tough to lose the string, and there are rewards for you patience.

Interesting and humorous discussions of the possible conclusion to Dickens' The Mystery of Edwin Drood, some of which make sense on various levels, but I didn't really buy any of them. I truly think Drood wasn't really dead. I'm not sure about much else, but I'm pretty confident of that. But the final conclusion of the book was so stupid that it negated any credibility that the rest of the book had. At least it was humorous and thought-provoking.
