About meI grew up in North Carolina and graduated from Wake Forest University with a B.S. in Biology and History, with honors, in 2004. My honors thesis topic was in southern history, which started my reading interests in that area. After college, I attended Dental School at the University of Maryland from 2005-2009, and received my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. I then enrolled in a six-year residency for specialty training in Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery to be finished in 2015. As part of that program, I received my Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Connecticut in 2012, and completed two years of residency training in General Surgery in 2014. When I'm not studying or treating patients, I enjoy hanging with friends, playing golf and tennis, playing piano, and listening to music. I love learning history in all forms - museums, cemeteries, battlefields, and historic homes. My ancestors fought in the American Civil War and being from the South, that eventually became one of the reasons I have such an interest in learning about the people and decisions involved in America's cataclysm.
About my libraryI am a 33 year old history nut, which my library reflects. I have my mother and grandfathers to thank for my love of history. Both grandfathers encouraged that from the age of five, one by bringing me to visit the battlefields of the Civil War and the other by giving up his books to start my collection.
