*searches for a bad joke*
Um...
After having dug to a depth of 10 feet last year, New York scientists found traces of copper wire dating back 100 years and came to the conclusion that their ancestors already had a telephone network more than 100 years ago
Not to be outdone by the New Yorkers, a California archaeologist dug to a depth of 20 feet and shortly after a story in an LA newspaper read:"California archaeologists' discover 200 year old copper wire, have concluded that their ancestors already had an advanced high-tech communications network a hundred years earlier than the New Yorkers."
One week later, a local newspaper in Minnesota reported the following: "After digging as deep as 30 feet in his pasture near Snuse Valley, MN, Ole, a self-taught archaeologist, reported that he found absolutely nothing. Ole, has therefore concluded that 300 years ago, Minnesota, had already gone wireless."

Some years ago there was a harrowing account in the news of a collision between a horse and a car somewhere near Port Elizabeth (if memory serves me well). Initial reports indicated that both horse and human were receiving treatment and were in a stable condition.

I became confused when I heard the word "Service" used with these agencies:
Internal Revenue 'Service'
U.S. Postal 'Service'
Telephone 'Service'
Cable TV 'Service'
Civil 'Service'
State, City, County & Public 'Service'
Customer 'Service'
This is not what I thought 'Service' meant.
But today, I overheard two farmers talking, and one of them said he had hired a bull to 'Service' a few cows.
BAM!!! It all came into focus. Now I understand what all those agencies are doing to us.

I just got off the phone with a friend now living in northern Alberta. She said that since early this morning the snow has been nearly waist high and is still falling. The temperature has dropped way below zero and the north wind is increasing to near gale force. Her husband has done nothing but look through the kitchen window and just stare. She says that if it gets much worse, she may have to let him in.

The old sheep ranchers used to tell the vet, "I did just as you said, Doc. I mixed the cows milk and the sugar, and heated it real slow; then I put in a shot of whiskey."
"And you gave this to the lambs, every four hours?" the vet asks.
"Lambs?!" the sheperd exclaims.

Ew, sick
A little girl was sitting and crying over her kitty that was run over and killed by a car. The girl was crying something awful, and her gandfather was doing his best to console her.
Finally, Grandpa said, "Don't cry honey, your kitty has just gone up to heaven to be with God."
The girl looks up through her sobs and said, "Now, what do you suppose God wants with a dead cat."

I now post on this thread with trepidation, not being able to check whether any particular bad joke has been aired already. But the little girl in 23 reminded me of another:
After many years of imprisonment, a prisoner managed to escape, and ran across a nearby meadow shouting "I'm free! I'm free!"
A little girl playing nearby gave him a superior look and said "So what? I'm four!"

A friend of a friend posted this on Facebook: not for family entertainment.
A man walks into the marital bedroom with a sheep under his arm, and looks over at his wife lying in bed.
"This is the pig I sleep with because you won't have sex with me," he says.
The wife looks disgusted, and says "I think you'll find that's a sheep."
The husband replies "I think YOU'LL find I was talking to the sheep."

BIG PEOPLE WORDS
A group of kindergartners were trying very hard to become accustomed to the first grade. The biggest hurdle they faced was that the teacher insisted on NO baby talk! You need to use 'Big People' words,' she was always reminding them.
She asked John what he had done over the weekend? 'I went to visit my Nana'. No, you went to visit your GRANDMOTHER. Use 'Big People words!'
She then asked Mitchell what he had done. 'I took a ride on a choo-choo'.
She said. 'No, you took a ride on a TRAIN. You must remember to use 'Big People' words'.
She then asked little Alex what he had done?
"I read a book," he replied.
That's WONDERFUL!' the teacher said.
'What book did you read?'
Alex thought real hard about it, then puffed out his chest with great pride, and said,
'Winnie the 'SHIT'

Phil calmly explained, "Last week, when I was at the race track, Jenny was the name of the horse I bet on." The wife apologized and went on with the housework.
Three days later, Phil is watching TV when Barb hits him on the right side of his head with the same frying pan.

We have in this library an oversized bound collection of Haper's Weekly. I opened to a random page dated April 12, 1862 and found an article called "Humors of the Day". Here are a couple of entries:
We deeply regret to hear that the incautious use of firearms has again resulted in a melancholy catastrophe. On Tuesday night last, Mr. Timothy O'Leary, of Ireland, but lately residing at No. 3½ Snitch Court, St. Giles's, hastily and in a fit of impecuniosity shot the moon, and the landlord is not likely to recover.
When the purse is empty, and the kitchen cold, then is the voice of flattery no longer heard.
Barry Cornwall says, "Come, let me dive into thine eyes." If his love had "swimming eyes," very good; but at all events, our advice to the young woman is, for divers reasons, don't let him do it. He might go over a "cataract."
The geological character of the rock on which drunkards split is said to be quartz.
And lastly...
Young ladies are like arrows - they are all in a quiver till the beaux come, and can't go off without them.

It was a hot Saturday evening in the summer of 1957 and Fred had a date with Peggy Sue. He arrived at her house and rang the bell.
"Oh, come on in!" Peggy Sue's mother said as she welcomed Fred in.
"Have a seat in the living room. Would you like something to drink? Lemonade? Iced tea?"
"Iced tea, please," Fred said. Mom brought the iced tea.
"So, what are you and Peggy planning to do tonight?" she asked.
"Oh, probably catch a movie, and then maybe grab a bite to eat at the malt shop, maybe take a walk on the beach..."
"Peggy likes to screw, you know," Mom informed him.
"Uh...really?" Fred replied, with raised eyebrows.
"Oh, yes!" the mother continued. "When she goes out with her friends, that's all they do!"
"Is that so?" asked Fred, incredulous.
"Yes," said the mother. "As a matter of fact, she'd screw all night if > we let her!"
"Well, thanks for the tip," Fred said as he began thinking about alternative plans for the evening.
A moment later, Peggy Sue came down the stairs looking pretty as a picture wearing a pink blouse and full circle skirt, and with her hair tied back in a bouncy ponytail She greeted Fred.
"Have fun, kids," the mother said as they left.
Half an hour later, a completely dishevelled Peggy Sue burst into the house and slammed the front door behind her.
"The Twist, Mom!" she angrily yelled at her mother. "The damned dance is called the Twist!"
"Oh, come on in!" Peggy Sue's mother said as she welcomed Fred in.

One day a hen goes into a library , scratches and flaps it's way to the desk, looks at the librarian and says
“Bok, Bok Bok,"
So the librarian gives it a book. The hen scratches it's way out with the book tucked under it's wing. The following day the hen returns with the book, drops it onto the desk and says "Bok, Bok, Bok" The librarian exchanges the book for another and again the hen flaps away with the book tucked under it's wing only to return the following day with the same 'request'.This time the librarian decides to follow the hen to find out where it goes with the book.
The hen with some difficulty walks quite a way with the heavy book tucked under it's wing, negotiates heavy traffic and busy pavements until eventually it comes to a house in a quiet street. The hen, followed by the now very curious librarian walks up the garden path and to the back of the house where it flaps it's way across a garden pond and exhausted, drops the book at the webbed feet of a huge frog that takes one look at the cover and says... “Redit, redit, redit!”

Answer: They both circle Uranus trying to find Klingons.

"Do you know there's the impression of a large M on your stomach?" the roommate asked.
"My fiance's in town this weekend," confided the young coed: "and he likes to make love with his football-letter sweater on."
"Which school does he attend, Michigan or Minnesota?" questioned her friend.
"Neither," giggled the first girl. "He goes to Wisconsin."

I'm living and teaching in Korea right now, and my foreign friends and I make up jokes that are puns in the Korean language.
For example:
Q: How often should you go to the post office?
A: Maeil. (Maeil = every day)
Q: How much does it cost to buy a house?
A: Cheep (cheep = house)
Q: How old is the oldest sailor?
A: Ship Man (Ship Man = 100,000)
Sometimes we tell these jokes to our students, and they just hate them. HATE them. But they hate them in the way that means they call over their friends to hear and beg me to tell more of them.

THE TOILET SEAT
My wife had been after me for several weeks to paint the seat on our toilet.
Finally, I got around to doing it while she was out. After finishing, I left to take care of another matter before she returned.
She came in and undressed to take a shower. Before getting in the shower, she sat on the toilet. As she tried to stand up, she realized that the not-quite-dry epoxy paint had glued her to the toilet seat.
About that time, I got home and realized her predicament.
We both pushed and pulled without any success whatsoever. Finally, in desperation, I undid the toilet seat bolts. Julie wrapped a sheet around herself and I drove her to the hospital emergency room.
The ER Doctor got her into a position where he could study how to free her (Try to get a mental picture of this.).
She tried to lighten the embarrassment of it all by saying, "Well, Doctor, I'll bet you've never seen anything like this before."
The Doctor replied, "Actually, I've seen lots of them . . . I just never saw one mounted and framed."

A seasonal Bad Joke (ancient, but I still like it).
Some time in the Middle Ages, not a million miles from the north-facing slopes of the Alps, there was a poor Knight whose life's work was riding around doing Good Deeds. He was so poor that he couldn't afford a horse, and so he rode a large St. Bernard dog. One day about this time of year there was a mighty storm -- thunder, lightning, hail, snow, the works. Just as the knight realized he really needed to look for shelter if he intended to survive, he spotted an inn. A few minutes later he blew in the front door on a flurry of snowflakes. Alas! Alack! and well away! The place was full to overflowing. There was No Room at the Inn. Sadly, he turned to leave and brave the elements, but just before he reached the door the receptionist called him back. And offered to make a plan that involved the knight sleeping on the kitchen table, as the only place they had. He accepted gladly. "But what", he asked "brought on this sudden change of heart?"
"Well", said the receptionist, gesturing at the knight's steed, " I couldn't let a knight out on a dog like this!"

Four of his elves got sick, and the trainee elves did not produce the toys as fast as the regular ones so Santa was beginning to feel the pressure of being behind schedule. Then Mrs. Claus told Santa that her mom was coming to visit. This stressed Santa even more.
When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two had jumped the fence and were out, heaven knows where. More stress.
Then when he began to load the sleigh one of the boards cracked, and the toy bag fell to the ground and scattered the toys. So, frustrated, Santa went into the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum.
When he went to the cupboard, he discovered that the elves had hidden the liquor, and there was nothing to drink. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider pot, and it broke into hundreds of little pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found that mice had eaten the straw end of the broom.
Just then the doorbell rang, and irritable Santa trudged to the door. He opened the door, and there was a little angel with a great Christmas tree.
The angel said, very cheerfully, "Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't it a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?"
Thus began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree

Another horror for you:
When Jonah was halfway down the whale's gullet, the noises ahead resolved themselves into a human voice. Not only that, it was singing.
"... We le'n sefyll yw a enw

In due course he met the singer, who turned out to be one Dai Jones of Abertawe. Jonah, naturally, wanted to know how anybody could think of singing in such dire straits. The answer?
"But Jonah bach, we always sing in Wales!"

A Dutch friend e-mailed me this one today, and it's too awful not to share:
Five surgeons at a medical conference were in the pub discussing what makes the Best Patient.
The surgeon from New York said the best patient was an accountant, because when you open them up all the parts are numbered.
The surgeon from Chicago said the best patient was an electrician, because when you open them up all the parts are color-coded.
The surgeon from Boston said the best patient was a librarian, because when you open them up all the parts are in alphabetical order.
The surgeon from California said that the best patient was a builder, because they understand when there's parts left over afterwards.
The surgeon from Washington DC said the best patient was a politician: no brain, no heart, no balls, no spine and the head and a$$ are completely interchangeable.

I was sitting in the waiting room for my first appointment with a new dentist. I noticed his DDS diploma on the wall which bore his full name. Suddenly, I remembered a tall, handsome, dark-haired boy with the same name had been in my high school class some 30-odd years ago. Could he be the same guy that I had a secret crush on way back then?
Upon seeing him, however, I quickly discarded any such thought. This balding, gray-haired man with the deeply lined face was way too old to have been my classmate.
After he examined my teeth, I asked him if he had attended Morgan Park High School. “Yes. Yes, I did. I’m a Mustang,” he gleamed with pride.
“When did you graduate?” I asked.
He answered, “in 1975. Why do you ask?” “You were in my class!” I exclaimed.
He looked at me closely.
Then, that ugly,

balding,

fat-assed,
gray-haired,
decrepit son-of-a-bitch asked

Saturday morning I got up early, quietly dressed, made my lunch, and slipped quietly into the garage. I hooked the boat up to the van and proceeded to back out into a torrential downpour. The wind was blowing 50 mph, so I pulled back into the garage, turned on the radio, and discovered that the weather would be bad all day.
I went back into the house, quietly undressed, and slipped back into bed. I cuddled up to my wife's back; now with a different anticipation, and whispered, "The weather out there is terrible."
My loving wife of 5 years replied, "And, can you believe my stupid husband is out fishing in that?"
And that's how the fight started...

A man on his Harley was riding along a California beach when suddenly the sky clouded above his head and, in a booming voice, God said, "Because you have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish."
The biker pulled over and said, "Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over anytime I want."
God replied, "Your request is materialistic; think of the enormous challenges for that kind of undertaking; the supports required reaching the bottom of the Pacific and the concrete and steel it would take! I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time and think of something that could possibly help mankind."
The biker thought about it for a long time. Finally, he said, "God, I wish that I, and all men, could understand women; I want to know how she feels inside, what she's thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she cries, what she means when she says nothing's wrong, why she snaps and complains when I try to help, and how I can make a woman truly happy."
God replied: "You want two lanes or four on that bridge...?"

A boy asked his grandfather why dogs were always sniffing each other's tails. The grandfather had this explanation:
A long time ago, dogs went to church just like people. When they came into dog church, they hung their tails on a hook by the door, like men do when they take off their hats in people church.
One day, a fire broke out in dog church. All the dogs ran out of church, and in the commotion, they just grabbed the first tail off the hooks by the door. After the fire was out, all the dogs discovered that they had gotten the wrong tail.
And so that's why dogs sniff each others' tails...they're still looking for their own tail.

A little old man was escorted into the witness box. He was sworn in and asked by the lawyer to explain what happened. After a lengthy discussion of the events leading up to the incident he finally got around to the meat of the case: ‘And then she hit me with a maple leaf.’

‘Are you kidding?’ exclaimed the old man. ‘It was the leaf from the centre of our dining room table.’

Case in point I recently replied in writing to a criticism: and this is what I wrote.

Yours sincerely - etc.

be about the ethnicity that the narrator is using, to make any sense.

Of the very first desktop computer my Institute owned -- so long ago that even the operating system was in BASIC, so each user could and did introduce their own personal tweaks. Unfortunately the colleague who discovered it could play tunes didn't get around to installing his. Which was to replace the error beep with a couple of bars of Greensleeves.
Why Greensleeves?
The first two lines are (slightly modified)
"Alas, my love, you do me wrong,
To use me thus discourteously."
Pity that's not standard, methinks.

Hi,
There once was a well respected priest who was in the habit of taking an early morning stroll by the nearby river bank.
And one day as he was taking in the air by the river he did hear a piteous cry coming from the reeds. "Help me!"
Naturally the prist was shocked and inclined to help, but he couldn't see who had called. Not untill he called upon him a second time and he realised that the cry was coming from a frog sitting on the bank.
The prist was of course curious and bent down to find out what was happening, thinking that the Lord had chosen an unusual messenger to speak with him. But alas he discovered as the frog told him of his sorry tale, it was not the lord sending him a message at all. It was an evil wizard.
The frog you see had once been a simple farm boy, minding his own business and doing no wrong when an evil wizard had transformed him into a frog. But as with all spells there was a way to break it, one that the wizard had clearly believed could never happen. He simply had to spend twenty four hours in the company of a good man. But what man would suffer a frog to be with him for a whole day?
Unfortunately for the wizard the priest was such a man, and so he scooped him up in his hand and placed him in his pocket as he went abour the rest of his day's activities.
So as he ate his breakfast the frog was there on the table beside him. As he gave his morning sermon the frog sat there on the pulpit in front of him. When he visited his parishioners the frog was with him. Even that night when he retired the frog was there on the cushion beside him. The priest was a true an noble soul.
An in the morning when he awoke it was to discover that the curse had indeed been lifted and the frog was no longer, but instead in his place was the innocent farm boy.
It was at that exact moment as he gazed upon the Lord's will that the cleaner walked in.
And that my Lord, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, shall be the case for the defence!
Cheers, Greg.

Well, you got me Greg...never saw it coming...lol
Here's one for you.
One day after a very long mass, the two priests decided to hit the showers, halfway through there showers the priests realized that there was no soap.
So, father Ray says to Father dick "I have extra soap in my room, I'll go get some".
So he leaves to fetch the soap and doesn't bother to get dressed becuase who would still be in the church at such a late hour? So he comes back from his room with two bars of soap and is walking down the hall when suddenly he hears voices coming around the corner, so with his quick thinking he froze to the wall, stiff as a statue.
The voices turned out to be that of three nuns, who, when saw him standing there like a statue stopped to look at and admire him complimenting at how realistic he looks and what a nice body he has.
When suddenly one of the nuns reaches out and grabbed his penis.
Startled, he dropped a bar of soap, with this the nun said "Oh look, a soap dispencer", wanting to test the first nuns theory the second nun reaches out and also grabs his penis, again he drops a bar of soap.
With this the nun says "Yes it's true, it is a soap dispencer".
Wanting to get her share of soap and excitement too, the third nun reaches out and grabs his penis.
But nothing happended for he was all out of soap, so she goes on yanking and pulling his penis for the next few minutes until, to her delight, she squeals "Oh! Look, handcream!"

Two nuns were scrubbing a floor on a hot day. They remarked how hot it was, especially in their habits. Knowing that no would be coming by, they decided to strip down and scrub naked.
After a while there was a knock at the door. "Who is it?" called one of the nuns.
"Blind man," was the answer. The two nuns looked at one another, and thought, "He is blind. He cannot see us." so the older nun got up and opened the door.
The man walked in and said, "Which window gets the new blinds? Hey, nice boobs!"

Which reminds me of the traveller who sought and found emergency accommodation in a monastery some time ago. On a Friday. But lo! the fish and chips at supper was excellent in all its parts, so much so that he went to the kitchen afterwards to convey his congratulations to the chef. A resident in a brown habit asked what he wanted, and on being told replied
"You want the fish friar; I'm only the chip monk."

A train hits a bus load of nuns and they all perish. They are all in heaven trying to enter the pearly gates past St. Peter.
He asks the first nun, ''Sister Karen, have you ever had any contact with a penis?''
The nun giggles and slyly replies, ''Well once I touched the head of one with the tip of my finger.''
St. Peter says, ''OK, dip the tip of your finger in the holy water and pass through the gate.''
St. Peter asks the next nun the same question, ''Sister Elizabeth have you ever had any contact with a penis?''
The nun is a little reluctant but replies ''Well once I fondled and stroked one.''
St. Peter says ''OK, dip your whole hand in the holy water and pass through the gate.''
All of a sudden, there is a lot of commotion in the line of nuns, one nun is pushing her way to the front of the line.
When she reaches the front of the line St. Peter says ''Sister, Sister what seems to be the rush?!
''The nun replies, ''If I'm going to have to gargle that holy water, I want to go before Sister Mary sticks her ass in it!"

"If I do that, Father, will my sins be forgiven?"
"No, but at least it will wipe that damned smile off your face!"

A male patient is lying in bed in the hospital, wearing an oxygen mask over his mouth and nose. A young student nurse appears and gives him a partial sponge bath.
"Nurse,"' he mumbles from behind the mask, "are my testicles black?"
Embarrassed, the young nurse replies, "I don't know, Sir. I'm only here to wash your upper body and feet."
He struggles to ask again, "Nurse, please check for me. Are my testicles black?"
Concerned that he might elevate his blood pressure and heart rate from worrying about his testicles, she overcomes her embarrassment and pulls back the covers. She raises his gown, holds his manhood in one hand and his testicles
gently in the other.
She looks very closely and says, "There's nothing wrong with them, Sir. They look fine."
The man slowly pulls off his oxygen mask, smiles at her, and says very slowly, "Thank you very much. That was wonderful. Now listen very, very closely:

Little Miss Polly Nomial: a Mathematical Fable
Once upon a time (1/t), pretty little Polly Nomial was strolling across a field of vectors when she came to the edge of a singularly large matrix.
Now Polly was convergent and her mother had made it an absolute condition that she must never enter such an array without her brackets on. Polly, however, who had changed her variables that morning and was feeling particularly badly behaved, ignored this condition on the grounds that it was insufficient, and made her way in amongst the complex elements.
Rows and columns enveloped her on all sides. Tangents approached her surface. She became tensor and tensor. Suddenly two branches of a hyperbola touched her at a single point. She oscillated violently, lost all sense of direction, and went completely divergent. As she reached a turning point she tripped over a square root that was protruding from the erf, and she plunged headlong down a steep gradient. When she was differentiated once more, she found herself, apparently alone, in a non-Euclidean space.
She was being watched, however. That smooth operator, Curly Pi, was lurking inner product. As he numerically analyzed her, his eyes devoured her curvilinear coordinates, and a singular expression crossed his face. Was she still convergent, he wondered. He decided to integrate improperly at once.
Hearing a common fraction behind her, Polly rotated and saw Curly approaching her with his power series expanding. She could see by his degenerate conic that he was up to no good.
"What a symmetric little polynomial you are," he said. "I can see that your angles have lots of secs."
"Oh sir," she protested, "keep away from me. I haven't got my brackets on."
"Calm yourself, my dear", said our suave operator. "Your fears are purely imaginary."
"I, i," she thought. "Perhaps he's homogeneous."
"What order are you?" the brute demanded.
"Seventeen," replied Polly.
"I suppose you've never been operated on?"
"Of course not," Polly cried indignantly. "I'm absolutely convergent."
"Come, come," said Curly. "Let's go off to a decimal place, and I'll take you to the limit!"
"Never!" gasped Polly.
"Abscissa!" he swore, using the vilest oath he knew. His patience was gone. Coshing her over the head with a log until she was powerless, Curly removed her discontinuities. He stared at her significant places and began smoothing her points of inflection. Poor Polly. She felt his hand tending to her asymptotic limit. Her convergence would soon be gone forever.
There was no mercy, for Curly was a heavyside operator. Curly's radius squared itself. Polly's loci quivered. He integrated by parts. He integrated by partial fractions. After he cofactored, he performed Runge-Kutta on her. The complex beast even went all the way around and did a contour integration. Curly went on operating until he satisfied her hypothesis, then he exponentiated and became completely orthogonal.
When Polly got home that night her mother noticed that she was no longer piecewise continuous, but had been truncated in several places. As the months went by, Polly's denominator increased monotonically. Finally she went to l'Hospital and generated a small but pathological function which left little surds all over the place and drove Polly to deviation.
The moral of the story is, "If you want to keep your expressions convergent, never allow them a single degree of freedom."

Q. Why did your mum not go to the bank?

Abie and Hymie were successful businessmen near retirement, and decided to treat themselves to a hunting safari. So they bought all the trimmings and set off for East Africa. And for a week thank G*d they didn't see anything. Then one day Hymie suddenly felt something jump on his back.
Hymie: Abie! Abie! What I've got on my back?!
Abie: So I'm a furrier I must know what you've got on your back?
