Jamil Nasir

Disaster, obsession, the collective unconscious, in a future Middle East. Very interesting, couldn't put it down. Author provides vivid details of Middle East culture, traditions, squalor, customs, etc. Reminds me of "tech noir".

Nasir approaches the idea of time travel a bit differently for this book and even creates a situation that's somewhat like a grandfather paradox. However, the ramifications of this paradox are different due to the manner in which Nasir handles time travel in general. The book itself rambled a bit and I was over half finished before the action picked up enough to where I truly felt that I HAD to finish the book to find out what happened. The climax and ending of were a bit of a downer and I show more was a bit disappointed in it. The story, overall, was okay and somewhat unique, but it was told rather than showed. The dialogue is lacking and the character development leaves something to be desired. I sort of recommend this book, but if you are a time travel buff you will probably be disappointed. show less

Involved tale about a strange religious cult on Callisto, a woman who is not what she seems and the very rich men that buy into the cult.
