This is a potentially important portrayal of a professional woman and her same-sex partner breaking through the glass ceiling in socially conservative Australia. Regrettably it shows all the signs of a quick writing job which skates over a wide range of issues without focussing too much on analysing them. It does however deserve a better fate than being remaindered at 25 per cent of the RRP. Kerryn Phelps and Jackie Stricker are important in the development of slowly changing attitudes show more towards same sex relationships and await a more considered look at their place in the history of social change in Australia. show less

Covering the relationship of both Margaret and Gough Whitlam, light fare and enjoyable to see this side of these famous figures.
read this book when I had no job no qualifications. It was a tonic at the time.
