"Has a (13+ -word) title ever been used in this game?"

-- I doubt it. Not checking before 07/13, but scrolling up, the longest title I see in this thread is your own 8-worder (57); I set up the

one: I and R.

Roland in #80 you say to avoid L but your title has no L. Seems to me you have to pick as a consonant m, s, or p. Which is it? Assuming it is S, I am playing on #80 and avoiding I and S:

85rolandperkins

57>80 > 84

The "avoid" in 80 was an awkwardly used adjective,
not a command, and it referred, in a pedantic commentary, to what WAS to be avoided back in 56>57.
(That was really I and R, anyway, not I and L!)
But, sorry, I did forget to write down what to avoid for 81.
The vowel was of course I, and then M S or P should have been specified,as you say, for the consonant. It looks like 81 took it to be M or P

Sorry, I guess I was (in my mind) spelling

I notice, b t w, Schmerguls,
re our conversations of a few weeks ago about Touchstones,
that titles with apostrophes
are again not faring very well
in emerging from Touchstoens/Search. For a while I was having a successful skein of "in blue"> sidebar,
with test apostrophe-titles. Touchstones/Search.

Kubla Khan, a poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge

Do the game accept a poem's title as a valid title instead of a fiction book or a novel?

Kindly verify.

248Schmerguls
Oct 11, 2013, 8:43 am

When I click on Roland's Kubla Khan (#246) I don't get Coleridge's poem but a book by somebody else. I think what is entered needs to be an actual book title.

249rolandperkins
Edited: Oct 11, 2013, 9:47 am

246-248
/
If Kubla Khan isn't fiction,(247) I've never read a fiction in my life! But, thinking back,
I think it was ruled years ago in a different, older game that the title must
be one that appeared as the main title on on a title
page, and that's unlikely*, in the case of Kubla Khan
"Fiction" doesn't have to be a novel, -- can be a long poem or a short story, but I remember a
short story's being rejected because it had appeared only
in a literary journal.
And we never did settle, more recently, whether a screen play is eligible.
However I'll delete it.

*But not impossible. Touchstones offers Nick Bantock's (?) Kubla Khan: a pop-up version . . . which I haven't seen but being a pop-up wouldn't suddenly make it a non-fiction.
Thanks for the link to the all-too-short Coleridge text, @razzamajazz. The late Robert B. Parker, b t w,
used "A Savage Place" (in line 14 of Kubla Khan)
as the title of an otherwise very un-Coleridgean novel.

Touchstones will be regarded as a "benchmark" whether the posted book title is an actual published fiction book. The title having no fictional content is an invalid, not acceptable entry or posting.

b t w, Schmerguls, getting

257Schmerguls

Roland, one would think that if the book is in the LibraryThing data base it would be listed in the "other" list, but I know that is not necessarily so, because I never use any book which I have not read and all the books I have read are in LibraryThing, and yet sometimes even under "other" I do not find the right book...
