If you're waiting on an Early Reviewers book, and it's been more than eight weeks since you were notified of your win, be sure to mark it as "not received" in our system. You can do this by heading over to the Early Reviewers page and clicking the "Books you've won" tab at the top of the page. This will take you to a list of all your Early Reviewers wins. After that eight week mark, a link will appear next to the book reading "I haven't received this book yet." Clicking this link alerts me to contact the publisher.

You can also post about it here, and I'll follow up on any late books on this thread.

I think the e-books I've won must have been lost as spam by my email filter. Still outstanding:

June 2015, Tower in the Crooked Wood
Dec 2015, The Winged Histories

Not sure what I can do about the filter, but I've started keeping a rigorous eye on the spam folder. Things seem to keep there quite a while before they disappear.

5laytonwoman3rd
May 16, 2016, 6:00 pm

>4 Cecrow: If you know the address an e-book is coming from, you should be able to add it to your "approved" list, or whatever your e-mail system calls it, so it won't end up in spam. You also may be able to set the time frame for automatic deletion from that folder, again depending on your provider.

>7 twopairsofglasses: See my posts here: https://www.librarything.com/topic/190584#5582735. Girl from The Savoy should be on its way to you now!

>8 LynnB: March books aren't considered late just yet (they won't be until May 28th)—publishers have 8 weeks for books to be sent and received. On May 28th, head over to the "Books you've won" tab on the Early Reviewers page, and you'll be able to mark it as "not received" in the system. This will prompt me to contact the publisher with a reminder.

Has anyone ever received any Early Reviewers book they've been chosen for? I've been chosen to get two different ones, two different months--and I haven't received either one. It's a little discouraging.

16laytonwoman3rd
Edited: May 31, 2016, 9:21 pm

>15 JenniferRobb: I've received a total of 60 books through the ER program over the years, and only 1 that I was chosen for has failed to arrive. Reviews posted on LT will note that the book was received through the Early Reviewers program if that is the case (the reviewer doesn't have to point that out---LT keeps track of it automatically). So if you browse the reviews of a few books from the ER lists, you'll see that a lot of people receive a lot of those books. Sorry you've been so unlucky that the two you've won have not arrived, but I see you've only been a member of LT since January, which means one or both of those books may still turn up. Sometimes it takes a couple months.

If there's a book we don't receive for months and months, can we request we "un-win" the title? I'd rather not have to keep updating that I didn't receive it every month or so, in case it hurts my chances of winning another.

30Taphophile13
Jul 12, 2016, 11:33 am

>29 Cecrow: I don't think you have to keep updating and not receiving a book does not count against you. Once you mark the book as not received you should see that the number of reviews you owe goes down and does not include any books marked unreceived.

31drneutron
Jul 13, 2016, 9:47 am

>30 Taphophile13: Actually, your comments aren't quite right. It's true you don't have to keep updating the unreceived status and it doesn't count against you. But the number of owed reviews doesn't change. I've had a unreceived book since May 2013 and it still shows up as an open review. And it's a case where the entire batch was pulled, so well known to the LT folks.

My longest outstanding is at 14 months now, from the June 2015 batch. I figure once a book is a year overdue, might as well give up on it. The publisher has little reason to make good on free copies at that point, promotion won't matter much anymore.

Ah, since this is showing up again, I figured I'd take a look at what I'm missing ... I have not received the books from:
November 2012
October 2015
March 2016
July 2016
... as well as the December 2016 selection, but that's not "late" yet.

Given that the longest it took for an LTER book to show up here was a whopping 14 months, I still have a vague hope that at least those 2016 titles might appear eventually ... but I'm guessing the earlier ones are just chalked up to the publishers scamming the program!

{edit} hmmm ... speaking of publishers scamming the program ... the middle two books listed are both from the same place - MSI Press - and they're both available on Amazon, so it's not that they "didn't come out" (one of the legitimate excuses for the publishers not sending the books) ... plus the 11/2012 book is also available on Amazon (different publisher - Prufrock Press), so they also just were scamming!

90BTRIPP
Jan 11, 2017, 11:33 pm

I wonder if there should be a "fool me once, shame on you / fool me twice, shame on me / fool me thrice, YOU'RE OUTTA HERE!" rule for publishers that offer books but then never send them. Both of the publishers in the above are still in business, and all three of those books are being sold via Amazon (so, still in print). How often should the LTER program be used for, essentially, "free publicity", before the offending presses get blackballed?

Did anyone else not receive a copy of The Blue Hour from the November batch!? I'm new to LT Early Reviewers; I've participated in two batches, wherein I won two books. The second one (from December) arrived today The Chilbury Ladies Choir however, I've never received this book from November. I know I can mark it as unreceived lateron this month but I read a note saying we should check to see if others received theirs!?

I am not discouraged if the book(s) did not ship or if the publisher is taking longer to mail them. Either way, I am thankful for the book which has arrived as the #PubDay is in February which gives me a few short weeks to enjoy reading it before I post my review. I wanted to post a note here in case anyone else was awaiting the same book I was and hadn't received theirs. All my information is current and correct for LT ER, too. I was just looking forward to this one due to the premise of it and the incredible breadth of story. Again, I'm thankful to be in the programme and will happily review all the books which arrive as it's quite serendipitous how everything works out in life especially when it comes to early copies of books. On that note, if a finished copy can be shipped in lieu of an early copy, I will happily review it instead.

I still have not received the two books I mentioned in post 141. Since you are now offering a second book by the author of my missing October 2016 selection (Kenneth Schwartz), this might be an opportunity for some communication as to where that book is. Post 145 by cal8769 also references not having received this book, and it currently has no reviews on LibraryThing.

I also seem to be experiencing some glitches in the system. On my profile page, I have two messages about winning different audiobooks from the June 2017 batch, but only one of those is showing up on the "Books I've Won" page. I also just received in the mail an Mp3 audio book of "I Was Told to Come Alone: My Journey Behind the Lines of Jihad" by Souad Mekhennet from Tantor Media. I recognise that title having been on a previous Early Reviewers list, if I'm not mistaken, but I never requested it. Have I mistakenly received someone else's book?

Yes, I'm aware. I'm not attempting to mark the book late; I'm merely asking if anyone else who won the book has received it. ER books don't usually take this long for me, aside from one other book that never showed up for me or half of the other people who won it. However, I received On Love's Gentle Shore by Liz Johnson about the time I would have expected to receive Price of Duty. I have no interest in the Johnson book. >200 reb922:, my experience has been hit/miss. I've received four, missed two. Both of the two misses were electronic, so I've given up requesting those.

Hi, I also haven't received The Fearless Benjamin Lay or Surprised Queenhood. I'm really looking forward to both of them so keeping my fingers crossed.

I am getting extremely frustrated in the fact that I haven't even received acknowledgement that I haven't received any books in months. I have messaged administrators and left a note on here over 2 months ago.

I never received Murder on the Serpentine by Anne Perry from the February 2017 batch.

>204 ollie1976:
Like you, I have left messages here and messaged administrators, and never heard anything in response. I agree it can be frustrating. Mostly my frustration is with the publisher who offered the review copies -- yet fails to follow through.

Unfortunately it seems that LibraryThing no longer monitors or responds to queries on this thread like they used to a few years ago. If your book doesn't arrive your best bet is to try to contact the publisher yourself.

I initiated a query about 3 months ago asking what I should do with a book I received that I did not request. In the same message I noted that I had not yet received Price of Duty which I "won" in April. After awhile loranne replied that LibraryThing "never" sends books to people who did not request them but she would check to find out what happened. She never reported what she found and did not respond to additional queries.

Subsequently, I discovered this thread (see 188 above). I forward the book I received by mistake to WillowOne who had not yet received the copy she "won." I still have not received Price of Duty nor heard from loranne. My guess is that the LibraryThing staff is overwhelmed by the volume of work.

Like you I have not received Price of Duty from the April 2017 batch. I have been an Early Reviewer for a couple of years now and this is the first book that I have not received. I had one other that took about 3 months before I got it.

Reb922: Just saw this. I did eventually receive The Dress in the Window. I was able to reach Loranne by email, not through this string. I believe she followed up with the publisher. It took over four months. PS It was a very good book.

I have not received Tooth and Talon by Alex Hernandez yet, the 8 week mark was Oct. 27 2017. Has anyone else won this book and actually received it yet?

Tooth and Talon has four ER reviews but seems to have been offered in several batches.

I just went through my books and see that I also haven't received Almost a Full Moon by Hawksley Workman (September 2016 batch). I don't imagine I will ever see it, but thought I would mention it.

Still no sign of An Army of One by Tony Schumacher from the July batch.

If it doesn't show up, it'd be only the second no-show for me since I started asking for ER books in 2009.

What seems odd to me is that several ER people have reviewed it while others have said, like me, that they haven't gotten it.

I haven't received Letters to the Pianist from the September batch. Obviously other members received it as there are reviews for it. Maybe the email went into my junk mail leading me to miss it, but I do check that folder...
