Although Meyer's writing definitely shows improvement in this installment{much less redundant than the previous book}, I felt far more detached from the plot of this one than the others. To me, the plot seemed very undefined and slightly disconnected and drawn out. Nothing definitive about the plot truly stayed with me until the fight at the end. Once again, I found myself reading on simply because I enjoyed certain characters(particularly Jake) not because of any interest in what was going to happen until the last several chapters. ( ) {my thoughts} - It is important to have read Twilight and then New Moon in this order to understand this books beginning at all. There is no back history mentioned in this book in the least and without reading the previous two in the correct order the reader will certainly be lost. This book focus’s mainly on the love triangle between Bella, Edward and Jacob. Jacob has a thing for Bella and that makes more sense in the 4th book. However, in this book there is also an attack that takes place due to newborn vampires being created in Seattle and they are completely out of control – so this book deals with that as well. But the most important part of this book is the love triangle. If Edward were not in the picture – then Bella would have been destined to be with Jacob – which is the ideal relationship given that being with him means she doesn’t have to sacrifice her life. To be with Edward she has to sacrifice her humanity – Its a good book and if you read the first two then you should always read the next in the series – however, its just a suggestion. {reason for reading} - I honestly read this series because everyone was all hyped up over the movies that were coming out and I wanted to see what all the excitement was about. The thing that makes me like this book is how overprotective Edward gets of Bella around Jacob and the love triangle. Well not really a love triangle since there was only one actual option she was always obviously going to choose. The plot-line was interesting and captivating at points. Towards the end Bella's sacrifice was quite dramatic and cinematic thought in my opinion! Still love it though.
Ask any high school girl: boys can be a pain. Fall for one who seems appealing, and he turns out to be a monster. One moment he acts like you don’t exist, the next, he drives you crazy by playing it cool — while his brothers circle you with hungry eyes. If you take a break to cut the tension, and hang out “just friends”-style with a younger guy who’s puppy-dogging you, what happens? Wouldn’t you know, he turns out to be a nightmare too. Bella must choose between her friendship with Jacob, a werewolf, and her relationship with Edward, a vampire, but when Seattle is ravaged by a mysterious string of killings, the three of them need to decide whether their personal lives are more important than the well-being of an entire city.
