About meReading. Lots of it. That's a big part of what makes me, me.

I have three cats and a husband.

Charley is very naughty, kittenish and is constantly losing his collar and name tag. I think we're on number 8. We've discovered he's part Bengal (he's an SPCA kitty, like his big adopted sister) so this accounts for the strange and wonderful things he likes to do: Sitting in toilet bowls, eating fluff, refusing to drink out of bowls and only from a running tap and so on. He talks as well, a lot. Chirps, and howls, and squeaks, and long wails.

Ginny startles easily, and likes to hide. She has several spots around the place. Her favourite spot currently is the hot water cupboard - on the bathmats, or on a kitteh blanket I've placed in there. She hisses, growls and spits a lot, but it's all noise. The blunt truth is that Ginny is often a grizzly, whiny, grumpy cat. I think that's why I love her. She has permanent PMS. We relate well.

Harvey is our new baby girl - she was semi-feral and trapped inside by my enterprising husband. Thanks to hand feeding and patience, she is now an affectionate, house trained kitteh who follows me everywhere. She adores Charley, to the point if she's not following ME, she's following him. See profile pic for example. We don't trust her outside on her own - she eats ~anything~. Last week it was raisins...

Leif (the husband) is attached to his computer and I feed him with a spoon and straw so that he doesn't have to step away from the keyboard. Unless he's napping on the couch...with kitties. He doesn't read as much as me, but he does appreciate my books and is slowly reading some of them...

In regards to this place I pop into the Green Dragon from time to time. Good place that.

Oh, and I've decided to pull my weight and actually write some reviews on all these damned books I read...slowly. Update - so that hasn't been happening. Oh well. Snerk.

2011 Reading Half way through the year now and I've mainly done a lot of re-reading. Revisiting some of the books and series in my Top 40, those beloved favourites. Think I'll keep doing that for the rest of the year.

About my libraryI only list books that I own. Did a cull recently and dropped one box off at the Salvation Army. Have another two boxes that will go there as well, some might be traded. They'll like sit around for a year or two though.

I have three shelves: the speculative fiction shelf; a smaller one for lit. fiction; and the other miscellany (and yet more fantasy) is on a third shelf in the office. Fragile things, and children's picture books, are in a box. Our house is very small - crowded with cats and books.

I love tags.

If the start of a series has made it into my Top 40 tag group (somewhat obviously it refers to my Favourite Books of All Time), it means I've counted the whole series as one book - given that one series tells one story after all.

And if a book (particularly a literary fiction or fantasy one) doesn't seem very detailed in terms of tags, it's likely because I haven't read it yet, or it's one that I read long ago and can't remember very well. Curses!

I also have rambly little comments next to many of my books, which compensates for all those unwritten reviews...or so I tell myself.

Now, if you've actually read all this come over to the Green Dragon and have a pint or two.

My grossly incomplete Wishlist

Hehe. Well, it was quite a long time ago so I don't honestly remember! I imagine so...he's The Explorer and puts his hard-learned skills to good use.

Very cute-hope all the kitties are doing well!
Hi there, miss bumping into you at work. Hope you're reading some good books at the moment.
Heya, hope you had a good easter. Just read all about your kittens and saw the photos, they were adorable. Well done for being strong enough to say goodbye.
Twisty Knickers sounds like a great name for a drink with too much vodka! :o) I really hope that drama is all over, though. *phew* Now, if we can just transplant the goofy goodness of that thread into another thread I would be soooo happy.
Just had a good chuckle at your profile picture. Have you seen the taxonomy of LOLcats? http://laughingsquid.com/lolcat-taxonomy/
Stick around, please!
:o)
You've been missed as well! Has it really been a YEAR? Wow...
Hello!

*hugz* back at ya!

I've taken more of a lurker role in GD lately, I get a bit lost in all of those reading threads, lol :)

Good to see annother familiar handle :)

Take Care
Seanie
I'm just being nosey. Seeing what you have read lately and what books you have added since I last checked.

huglets :-)
Love seeing the "Kitties of New Zealand"
Hope you are well.
It is! I think I just finished for tonight though. The last cover gave no inspiration at all!
Harvey and her babies are adorable! Congratulations on the additions to your family. Years ago my Siamese, Niknak, had kittens. She gave me a fright when she would hide them in the linen closet and clothes hamper. Happily, they were all fine and we found good homes for them.
One of our cats would stick his tongue out, very cute. We found out that he had a problem with his teeth. When that was straightened out, no more tongue sticking.
I saw your comments on a cat care talk re books on cats with a psychological bent and now i see your cat is a look(almost)alike for mine photographed on page 268 of The Cat Who Thought Too Much (is yours a good mole-catcher, too?)and wanted you to see said book (100% readable at Google Books as of last night but not yet for sale) and compare it to The Nine Emotional Lives of Cats, a bk i read some of at googlebooks or amazon (after my mom sent me the author's book on a variety of animals titled The Altruistic Armadillo* and found that book mentioned in the postscript) and responded to at last moment in mine before sending it to the printer between xmas and the new year last!

The divergence of fans and critics of Masson's cat book at Amazon is extraordinary. I cannot recall ever seeing such a clear fifty-fifty split. As i love debate, i cannot wait to see what happens when my cat book is thrown to the lions so to speak. It may be more ferocious than what little i get re my translated poetry!

My parents once had a dingy painted red and unofficially called "the bloody auk" but painted on the transom I.P. U.P. on the right and left sides evenly so as not to capsize the little boat. I heard the auks went extinct. Is that true and is the Auk in your name the same or were the birds awks and have nothing to do with it?

*Since i caught a skunk trying to catch an armadillo leaving its den a week before receiving the bk i can attest to the info on armadillo burrows in masson's bk!
No problem dear. Just making sure. Do you have a thread going this year? If so I'd love to keep up with you. We're okay. I've been sick for a few days (intestines). But, as my father would intone piously, "This too shall pass." ;->

Blessings,
Susan
Just checking back :)
What a pretty kitty... I know I said that before :)

Are you doing 75 in 2010? was just looking for your thread to stay in touch with you.

Susan
Hi,
Nice to hear from you. I have been wondering how you have been doing. I hope all is well.

Everything is good here. My grandson turned 5 months old on the 12th and my 20th wedding anniversary is next week.

I hope to hear from you again,

Carrie
