| Description | 1) In Terah Edun's Courtlight series, Mina is a young woman at court. 2.) In Nore Yamakazi's series The Ancient Magus' Bride, Mina is a frail young woman living some centuries before Chise. She is married to a devoted husband, Matthew, who worries over her health. An alchemist comes to the village, and tells Matthew that cats really do have nine lives, and that by killing numerous cats, he can make a potion that will give Mina good health. He is not named at this time, but it is Cartaphilus. Mina is forced to drink the potion, but it destroys her. Matthew loses his mind, and is killed by the King of the Cats. The two become a blight of evil, which the King seals at the cost of his life. In Chise's time, the seal is giving way.
