2023 Poetry Month Hunt

It's Poetry Month, and we’re springing into the season with a new poetic treasure hunt!

The object of the game is to solve our clues (in verse!) and go to the LibraryThing page each clue is talking about.

Go HERE for the hunt.

You have a little less than two weeks—until Sunday April 30th at 11:59pm EST—to find all the quills hidden around the site and add them to your quiver.

Use this thread to brag, ask for and give hints, etc.

We'll be awarding profile badges to anyone who finds at least two quills, and anyone who finds all 12 will be entered into a drawing for a LibraryThing coaster set and sticker.

Surprised I did so well since poetry is not generally my thing, but 10 of the 12 seemed obvious to me. I am stuck on #'s 10 and 12. Doesn't really seem to be enough information to get me going anywhere. Thoughts?

for #6 Look at the style of the hint poem, and think of a librarything thing. Also check out the "more" tab on the title bar.

given that I don't read poetry, I content myself with my two quills nearly without external hints. (Ok, I had to google the name of a poet, but at least I remembered her...)

Hint for #1, which I "solved" conceptually, but then had to puzzle through for navigation purposes. It's a type of LT page that doesn't otherwise appear in this hunt, but it's named in the clue.

Got them all, but then decided to test something.

2, 4, 7, 8, 12 It is possible to get the 5 clues that are books/poems or authors/poets by putting part or all of the clue into the AI search.

Got my quiver full of quills!

#11 was the worst because I knew exactly what the answer was, but couldn't figure out how to navigate to it.

I am sad. Either I am completely wrong in every instance, or there's a technical difficulty preventing me from scoring any of these. I supposed I'd better not share a suspected URL as an example so I don't give one away (I'm that confident I'm right), but could it be not all members have this challenge enabled for some reason?

Especially #1- i have tried all hints and it seems as though it should be super obvious from the outset and still i come up empty

6 - fairly certain I know what I'm looking for, but where?

So- i support the supposition that there is a glitch. i clicked on one i had solved- and it made no comment/acknowledgement

Also, the glitch may be periodic. i started this last night and quit because some answers seemed not to work. this morning those same guesses worked; now nothing seems to work again

#10 is Librarything group. Part of the group's description is in the clue
#12 the clue is a reference/play to the title of a book by a very famous poet from Chile

Do you think you know the answer to #1 or all you completely stumped? the answer is in the first line of the clue and the theme of the treasure hunt itself. To get the quill, I had to use the Zeitgeist page to navigate to the correct page but the treasure hunt seems glitchy today so maybe that's the problem?

Not sure if you found the other ones, but for 6 go on the more tab at the top of the page and its in the Games and Community Projects section
for 10 its a librarything group. once you get to the groups page, search poetry, and the name of the group has a word that is often repeated in the clue
for 12 basically considered the national poet of chile. the title is similar to the first line of the clue

If anyone has any clues for 1 or 3 that would be appreciated,

This was the easiest hunt I've done, even though I know less about poetry than probably most of the other topics we've had. Nonetheless, it was very enjoyable to be able to get so many without looking at any clues! Thanks for another fun hunt!

i have earned that quill 2x now- and it continue to read as unsolved and only 11 quills show up

My life has been falling apart lately, but tonight I solved the poetry hunt and nobody can take that away from me!

These hunts are one of my favorite things about this site! I struggled with #12 and then fell victim to the glitch after I finally figured it out, but at last I got my last quill.

I do enjoy these hunts! Breezed through this one, up to numbers 10 and 12. Then I screeched to a shuddering halt. I was in the right area for 10, but not precise enough with my search terms - everything was dormant! Number 12 was a total mystery until one of these hints mentioned what country the author was from. Huh! I didn't even know that person was a poet!

For #9, I've tried searching 'sonnets' in plural but the link I click on, https://www.librarything.com/work/29388, I am not sure is correct. I don't really know where else to find the word.

I have to say, Clue #9 is possibly my favourite of any challenge yet. Really well written.

Need help with 4, 6, 8, 11 and 12. I'm sure I know what a couple of them are but cannot find them.

I can't believe how long it took me to get No. 6 after the hint earlier on turns out there are two locations on the MORE page that link to pages with poems about books - I continued to take a run at the one that was more recursive, and didn't see the other one for several days

#1 doesn't seem to work on the German site, I had to use the English domain (.com).

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE LT hunts!
They completely save me from my mundane boring life & challenge my brain.
Of course solved them all.
Helpful hints directed me to a couple when I knew the answer, but not locate the correct page.
Kudos to all whose combined efforts when into the hunt création. As usual an astounding fun time. Thanks!

For clue 3, you will find what you seek on the Early Reviewers publishers page, look for the not-for-profit poetry publisher and open their page.

Solved! Thanks for the hints on #1, #6 and #12 - I had #1 conceptually but needed the hints to find out where to find it. Quite a quick solve for me!

And done! I managed two by myself, (at least) one accidentally, most of the rest using the internet but I did use the hints for clues 6 and 12 (although I did absorb some information while copying hints across to the threads in the Treasure Hunt group).

Fun hunt! I only resorted to Google once!

I only discovered this hunt today (just in time!), and (with a wee bit of help from a couple of hints here) managed to find them all!
But--as a relatively new member of LibraryThing--what I learned most from the hunt was not about poetry, but more about LibraryThing's features, especially the search!

Wow! This one is hard! I got 5 by myself and almost all the others with hints from the good people here. However, I still can not get #4.

ETA: Oh wait! I have it now! I thought I checked this before but apparently not. Definitely an exhausting but educational hunt. Thanks to all the good LT people for the Hunt and the hints. And of course to ConceptDawg for the beautiful illustration.

I got three and that's all I'll get. Someday there will be a hunt about a subject I know something about, but I'm not going to hold my breath.
