Here Are The Suggested Rules of the Game:

1. Please play on the most recent correct post.

2 Please verify that no one else has posted while you were preparing your post.

3. The title of the book cited must have one word, at least, which is the same as a word in the previous title.

4. The repeated word in the new title must be other than an article ("a", "an", or "the").

5. The repeated word must be spelled exactly as the word was spelled in the previous title. E.g., "prune" is not the same word as "prunes", and "loyal" is not the same word as "loyalty."

6. The repeated word must be in the title as shown in a LT library listing, or on the title page of the book. A sub-title or a series name can be included if the sub-title or series name is included in the title of a LT library listing, or is printed on the title page of the book.

7. A hyphenated word is one word, not two: e.g., "thunder-clouds"; and if used must be repeated in full, not in part only.

8. If you have read the book it would be informative that you so indicate and tell when you read it, if you can.

9. Try to use Touchstones. Put brackets around the title and double brackets around the author. If Touchstones don't work, try using an HTML link.

continued from here.

Hi, Schmerguls.

The rule does say "if you can." I have no idea when I read most of the books in my library and figure a lot of other people don't, either.

Cheers!

Swann's Way: The School Busing Case and the Supreme Court, by Bernard Schwartz (read 9 Oct 1986)

Hi, Boobalack. I suggest you have to have some idea when you read a book--you know you read it after you learned to read and probably know you did not read it this month--so you can give a range of years, like between 1957 and 2009--and probably even more exact.... If nothing else, such would give a clue to your age!

We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson

read in the 80s. or possibly the 70s. conceivably the 60s. no, no, i expect it was the 80s. i wish i could remember whether i was still living in Berkeley when i read it. if so, it would have to be the 60s or 70s. of course, knowing me and Shirley Jackson, it could have been several times. probably was. but possibly not.

Schmerguls, I suggest that I do not know when I read most of the books I read. You'll just have to take my word for it. To say between 1945 and 2010 seems just a tad silly. If anyone wants to know my age, they can look at my profile. Or to make it easier, I was born on 10/20/40. I do know what year I read one book because I was in the hospital when I read it, but I haven't posted that book, yet.
