Description | John Todd Stuart (November 10, 1807 – November 23, 1885) was a lawyer and a U.S. Representative from Illinois. He was a cousin of Mary Todd Lincoln. Born near Lexington, Kentucky, Stuart graduated from Centre College, Danville, Kentucky, in 1826. He then studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1828, and commenced practice in Springfield, Illinois.
