Description | Perkin Warbeck (c. 1474–1499) was a pretender to the English throne. In Burgundy in 1490, he claimed to be Richard, Duke of York, the younger son of King Edward IV, who had disappeared as a child from the Tower of London. With the support of Richard's aunt Margaret, dowager Duchess of Burgundy, he gathered followers to invade England and depose the Lancastrian king Henry VII. However, the effort was unsuccessful and he was captured and executed by Henry. |
