I enjoyed the poems here, but I'm afraid the book didn't leave me with any new favorites or gems--in fact, there were some here (albeit only a few) that I felt truly didn't belong in such a collection.

Yusef Komunyakka's eleven books of poems include Thieves of Paradise, a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, and Neon Vernacular, for which he received the Pulitzer Prize. He teaches at Princeton University and lives in New York City. (Bowker Author Biography)

David Lehman's books include One Hundred Autobiographies: A Memoir and Playlist: A Poem. He is the editor of The Oxford Book of American Poetry and series editor of The Best American Poetry. He has written nonfiction books about the New York School of poets, classic American popular songs, Frank Sinatra, and mystery novels, among other subjects.
