10.Fantastic Beasts and where to Find Them By J.K. Rowling

I listened to this it was read by Eddie Redmayne (look back at my last thread to learn how I feel about him), is an updated version of the Comic Relief one that was released in 2001. A compendium of Fantastic Beasts is read with great wit and the new intro to the book is funny. My only question does it count as a re-read if I listened to it?

28 Days of Love: Day 20

6 TV Episodes I Love

These are my go to episodes of my favorite Shows:

Once More With Feeling - Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Oh how I love this episode let me Count the ways...

1. It is a Musical... you all know how I feel about Musicals.
2. It is dark! as jolly as the tunes are what they are singing about is not happy.
3. The songs are catchy and funny... the songs are well constructed and fit the characters.
4. The actors are not dubbed... they did all there own singing and dancing... it's not perfect but it is nice.
5. The episode is the climax of all the tension that built up over the last few episode's.
6. It was all Xander's fault1

This is my favourite episode of Buffy. It is well constructed and is highly quotable...

"I'm not exactly shaking in my stylish yet affordable boots but there is defiantly something evil in the mix." -Buffy

...Wit that can not be measured, it is jolly and sad all at once and this moment

oh the feels.

Blink- Doctor Who

My favourite New Who episode contains very little of Mr Tennant and a lot of the Weeping Angels

They are scary!

Genesis of the Daleks - Doctor Who

My Favourite Classic Who episode contains my favourite TARDIS team, The Doctor, Sarah Jane and Harry. is full of tension and the creation of the Daleks. It was in this story I feel in love with Tom Baker as the Doctor.

Back to Reality - Red Dwarf

The Boys from the Dwarf return back to reality after they all die in a virtual reality game... or do they. I love Red Dwarf, I like it even more when we get untint version of Rimmer, Lister, Cat and Kyton.

The One Where No One's Ready - FRIENDS

This Episode is FRIENDS in a nut shell, set almost entirely in the Girls flat, they are getting ready for and award event at Ross's place of work but as the title suggest they are anything but ready. This episode shows the main cast at its best and it is so so funny and sweet it is a diamond of and episode.

The Guitarist Amplification - The Big Bang Theory

Lenard and Penny fight, Sheldon takes it badly. Each episode of The Big Bang Theory is between 17 and 24 minuet long and they can often blur together... but this stands out to me. the 3 core cast are on top form Lenard and Penny taking the parent rolls and Sheldon that of a grown child. it is quick and funny.

Films watched in March

Gypsy(1962)*** Again a Musical starts the month and again it is not one of my favorites. The music is good as is the story but it is alittle long winded. Keeping

Hair(1979)*** I love the music in this musical but the stage version is so much better. Keeping.

Hairspray(2007)***** This is my film to make me Happy. Keeping

The Hangover(2009)**** & The Hangover part II(2011)*** I like the first film much more then the second. still need to see the third. Keeping

Hans Christian Andersen(1952)*** Again I love the music but a tad long winded. Keeping

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone(2001)**** Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets(2002)**** Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban(2004)***** Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire(2005)**** It's Harry Potter! Keeping

Beauty and the Beast(2017)**** Saw this at the cinema. and it was very good.

58PawsforThought
Apr 2, 2017, 6:20 pm

>57 BBGirl55: Agree that the stage version of Hair is better than the film. I saw it on stage about ten years ago or so (with actors I would never have imagined in the roles, but who were great) and thought watching the film a couple of years later would be a good idea ("Because it was so good on stage!"). I didn't like the movie much at all - the songs are its saving grace, really.

12.The Godfather By Mario Puzo

I have so many thoughts about this book and so many feelings the book made happy, sad and a little mad. still got full marks.

*****

13.The Rest of us just Live here by Patrick Ness

This was a good book, written very well, I like how it centred not on the apocalyptic events that were going on but the kids in the background.

28 Days of Love: Day 21

60's Bands

We blame my Mum for my love of 60's music, though to be fair to my Mother she was a Teen in the 60's and the music you like as a teenager stays with you. I always state the my Music taste is eclectic a large part of that I get from my parents. My Dad likes songs where you can hear the words and that have a story, My Mum likes almost everything else.

We will gloss over the BIG two. (The Beatles and The Rolling Stones) and mention some of my other Favourites of the 60's

The Kinks

Their song are among some of my favourites. this is a Band I like more then the Beatles, songs are catchy, have many shades and often double meanings. stand out songs 'You Really Got Me' 'Dedicated Follower of Fashion' and 'Sunny Afternoon'

The Who

Though I like their later stuff much better stand out songs 'My Generation' 'Pinball Wizard' and 'The Kids Are Alright'

The Hollies

Often unfairly compered to The Beatles, This band is more whimsical and has a stronger harmony. Stand out songs 'Carrie-Anne' and 'Just One Look'

The Zombies

A really smooth sound. stand out songs 'You've Really Got a Hold on Me' and 'She's Not There'

My Teen years were spent listening to 90's Boybands and Britpop so my love of 60's Bands rounded me out.

>78 MickyFine: Are you enjoying the new season?

Sorry that I have been missing for most of the month, work was crazy busy and joint Netflix so.... and the last week has been taken up with my Dad going in to Hospital to get his knee fixed, it went well and he is mending and has read more books then me in the last week. Anyway on to the book I finished.

14.The Time Machine by H. G. Wells

This has been on my book bucket list for years and years. Often stated as the first Science Fiction book it is a wonder that I did not get to it sooner. The story was not particularly long but I kept putting it down, the prose and language used seemed odd and felt like I was being told the story rather then shown. But I am not one to give up and when I finally got in to the story I found it very engaging, It played with the dangers of time travel, the idea of Devolution and ones own faith. A very good read in the end.

Anyway this has been a Long time coming

28 Days of Love: Day 22

Busted / McFly / McBusted

In my time I have been known to be a fan girl! Busted and Mcfly are two groups that I have been known to Fan Girl over.

Busted is a Three piece group consisting of Matt Willis, James Bourne and Charlie Simpson

Busted released it's first single in 2001 when I was 17 the same age as two thirds of the band. their songs were catchy, bright and very tongue in cheek. They wrote and played their own music, they had this frantic energy when they played live. I was heartbroken in 2005 when they split up after just two studio albums.

But then MyFly came along they also wrote their own songs that were catchy, bright and very tongue in cheek I was in love again. the band consist of Tom Fletcher, Danny Jones, Dougie Poynter and Harry Judd. An interesting fact McFly's Debut Album 'Room on the Third Floor' earnt them the Guinness World Records for being the youngest band to have a debut album enter the charts at number 1 a title they took from The Beatles.

McFly have been very successful, have released 5 studio Albums and played countless tours. Had a member win 'I'm a Celebrity...' (Dougie) and a Member win Strictly Come Dancing (Harry) and won a Brit Award for best Pop Group. As a group they adore their fans and continually thank them and bring us in to their lives. Tom even has a YouTube channel (as does the band) that are regularly updated to let us know what is going on with the band and spouses and children.

In 2013 McFly held a two day concert at The Royal Albert Hall to celebrate 10 years as a band but with a surprise for the Fans. The were joint on stage by two thirds of Busted, Matt Willis and James Bourne. And the Super Group McBusted was born. McBusted was a two year rollercoaster that had two sell out tours and an Album.

At the end of 2015 it was announced that Busted was reforming with all three original members. 32 year old me was over joyed. A tour was anouced as was a new studio album. it was almost like I was 17 again.

Both bands have been constant in my life and on my shuffled playlist, it's not unusual for me to hear a McFly song then an Busted song then a Mcfly song again.
