Read the Book, Hated the Movie

aspirit : The movie was more enjoyable than the book.

misericordia : Hated the book loved the movie! In a cheesy guilty pleasure sort of way.

aspirit: The book focused more on the psychological consequences of war culture than on specific traumatizing events (potential trauma triggers to readers). The movie glorified violence as it made jokes of the soldiers (both human and alien) who seem unaware they're trapped in the military system.... No thanks.

misericordia: The short story has a much better ending than any of the movie version.

themulhern: Lots of good actors, but the movie was poorly conceived, while the book is imaginative, mordantly humorous, great.

misericordia: Tough one since the movie really isn't about the book. Really two different things.

aspirit : The movie adaptation I saw was excellent. Are we here thinking of different movies?
