Best literature ever!

Christos777: After finishing the book, try its negative image, Go Set a Watchman, where all the notions and characters are blurred.

Christos777: Very interesting development of the plot—yet another story told through various narratives, with characters that appear across other Faulkner titles.

Christos777: If you like this book, feel free to read anything by Steinbeck — he won't disappoint you. The Pearl reads like a Western movie, with many moral lessons. For instance, every time I encounter an employee who tries to persuade a customer just for the benefit of the company, I think of the pearl buyers in the story.

Christos777: Interesting development - nice road story, and speaking of road stories another suggestion is 'The Road'.

Christos777: As I mentioned, I like Henry Miller, and I think some parts of this book have influenced his style—especially the Chicago story. When I read this part I think I read H. Miller. Other parts of the book differ in style and seem to have been written during different periods of Céline's career.

Christos777: A well-constructed story from start to finish, cleverly developed with horror-like elements that will keep you turning the pages.

Christos777: I've included many German works in this list. Most of them seem like they were written by the same author—simple, to the point, mostly troubled love stories, which I really enjoy.

Christos777: When a kid I saw the film based in this book on tv and I still remeber it, then I found this book in a Modern Library best 100 book list I bought it, read it and agreed with the choice.

Christos777: I don't want to include more than one book by each author on this list. I believe that if you like one book, you'll probably like the author's other works too. Sometimes this proves wrong, but it usually works for me.

Christos777: Henry Miller is one of my favorite authors. I've read most of his work, and another recommendation is Paris 1928. As with my other suggestions, I don't necessarily recommend the most famous books by each author, but rather the lesser-known ones that I personally enjoyed.

Christos777: I recently read Anna Karenina and some other works by Tolstoy, but if you're like me and consider long novels an ordeal, start with his amazing short stories instead.

Christos777: Okay, now we're talking serious. This is a true gem—one of the titles I would include in the top 10 literary books. Note that some of the Klondike stories are scattered across different books.

Christos777: Professor Filth is now one of my favorite literary characters. This is the book on which the film The Blue Angel was based. Update: I am currently reading another Mann's book, the Venus volume from 'Roman Der Herzogin Von Assy' trilogy and I think it is superb.

Christos777: Don't miss 'The Bucket-Rider.' I'm not sure if it's included in the version shown here, but this tale explains what happened to Europeans after the Russian invasion of Ukraine: they turned into ridiculous bucket-riders.

Christos777: Try to find and read as many Papadiamantis stories as you can. The man wrote hundreds of tales that will never stop surprising you.
