Western Canon

A list of books, grouped, roughly, chronologically, that follow various lists of the Western Canon. For instance, Harvard's Five Foot Shelf, The Great Books, Bloom and others all made lists of their idealised works. Various translations have been favoured. An attempt shall be made to cite those translations. The various lists include/exclude works. This list will seek to include as many options as possible. I had intended to Begin with Gilgamesh, even though it precedes the Greeks, but opted afterword to include other major works of Eastern cultures to envision the time-frame of literary progress. * I couldn't quite figure out where to put mathematical works, so have opted to put them between Ancient Greece & Ancient Rome. *Have included titles of specific Great Books Volumes, when they could be found; and other similar collections as point of references. * Have started the list broadly, such as - works of "some dead Guy". will attempt to add specific titles of said works, later, after having filled in the skeleton. *Collections have grouped their writings usually by type. I have attempted to go chronologically with exception to the mathematical works * Time-Periods are generalized- not specific. *Great Books lumps Hippocrates and Galen together, I have attempted to put them back in their correct time-lines. *The Great Books omits almost all of the Middle Ages, I will be putting some of those works back. *This list contains major and minor works with no particular preferences. This list is incomplete and continues to be developed, slowly.
