saskia17: First in a very long series of guilty pleasure books. I hate the main character and the editing is terrible, but I've read every one.

knerd.knitter: Yes, I read it. And if I had been 16 when they came out, I would have been OBSESSED.

elorin: I see a lot of criticism of this work, but I love it and love rereading it.

auldhouse: I know I shouldn't, but I've loved this book since junior high.

Cecrow: The first few were me reading them to my kids, then they were done. The rest was me wanting to know what happens next.

sbisson: The first book in the Black Dagger Brotherhood isn't even the best book in the series, but it's going to take you into a dark, sensual, caring and funny world of vampires (who only want to save their race from deliciously over the top monsters) and the women, angels. ghosts, deities, cats and seeing eye dogs who love them. Come for the fighting, the tragedy, the loss and the sexual tension, stay for the soundtrack, the movie marathons, the impromptu therapy sessions and the fashion...

elorin: I know the author is questionable but I love this book regardless.

cindra-cat: Finding out about discovering uses plants and inventing tools along with Ayla as she lives her difficult life

gypsysmom: This is the book that started the whole Pern series. I read every one since.

gypsysmom: I'm drawn to books featuring retirees because I'm also one.

auldhouse: Who doesn't love a good Nancy Drew now and then? Fun fact--if you read the same book published in different decades, they sometimes change the plot to match the era.

BonnieJune54: I love gothic romances! Where did they go?

Marissa_Doyle: Funny, marvelous characters, and a delicious happily ever after. Great for when you're feeling down and need an escape.

auldhouse: Who didn't want to sneak a peek at the good parts on their parents' bookshelf?

auldhouse: I'm obsessed with Jacqueline Suzann's story and her stories. So bad and good!

elorin: First read in 7th grade for the explicit sexual descriptions. I have since enjoyed the entire series but always feel guilty reading them because of how I got my start.

auldhouse: The spiciest and best of the series, in my opinion.

gypsysmom: Food porn!

Cik8a: I generally do not enjoy romances, I'm not a prude by any means but I get so frustrated with the way characters interact! And my sense of second hand embarrassment is pretty high. These two are pretty good communicators! Their little misunderstandings are cleared up pretty quick. And I love the world building! People tend to get hung up on the interspecies erotica when I mention the book though!

paradoxosalpha: The author calls this one "morally disimproving," and it is a laugh riot.

Boand: My second favourite novel by Garner. Ancient British myths and magic spun together in a scary tale

Boand: A favourite since I was very young

Bookwomble: Racist, Orientalist, colonialist, sexist, but also great adventure stories.

ZephCraven: So silly but pretty cozy and fun. Exactly what it looks like.

lizzy50usa: It's mostly the title that makes this a guilty pleasure. The story is quite good.

cindra-cat: Magic and shapeshifting in a contemporary urban setting. Strong female main character.

TheLOFT: A dirty, deft, and sharp-toothed saga that inspired film history for a reason.

cindra-cat: Qwill is a curmudgeon. Koko is brilliant and quirky. YumYum sort of helps. They are found family.

gypsysmom: So much magic in London. Who knew?

TheLOFT: Profound, problematic, and perfectly salacious as all of Rice's works are.

suzemazice: Young adult but worth the time. Set in medieval times. Alanna from Song of the Lioness series was the first female knight in centuries. It’s been many years and Kel is finally on the way to also becoming a knight. She also meets other characters from The Immortals series. Great strong female protagonist.

BTSLVRLibrarian: Fun gothic romance... It's way more fun than the True Blood Series that was developed. Silly at times but very enjoyable!

yolklor: Is it the best queer romance ever written? Far from it. But the pure cheese and hopecore of it all.....

BonnieJune54: Enjoying 30 year old cozy mysteries is not something I spread around.

TonyaJ: This book really surprised me back when I first read it. I guess a good analogy for it would be when you used to wonder where the bathrooms are on The Enterprise, the showers and tubs. It all seems pretty sterile, right? We don't really envision Darcy and Elizabeth in bed, because there were so many rules about how to act in proper society. I don't really feel guilty about it, but I quite like these folks being free with each other in private and once dressed, out and about with their duties, back they go to conventional behavior. There is substance to the novel and there are family issues, loneliness and other elements where their relationship is tried.

oceancat: look this series is Not Good and yet I love them. I cannot explain it

AbigailAdams26: This cheesy teen vampire romance and the series to which it belongs is lots of fun, despite its melodrama. I still own the original 90s paperbacks.

cpg: You despise Hitchens when he's on the other team but celebrate him when he's on your own.

Hartsellang: I don't typically like thrillers or mysteries, and maybe some would say this is not either, but to me it was a little of both wrapped up in a love story set in nature.

EerierIdyllMeme: I read this early in the pandemic, and it was exactly the kind of trashy I needed. Gratuitous violence and gore (something I normally avoid, but sometimes you want everything painted in primary colours), combined, surprisingly, with the romantic sensibilities one would associate with a particularly idealistic 14-year-old girl, which was refreshing in comparison to where I was worried it was going to go in that respect, for the purpose of pretending to be deep. Also I take it his writing vocabulary is particularly low level, since I was able to read it.

haydninvienna: Biggles in SPAAAACE! Not over bright but intensely honourable Isambard Smith and his ragtag crew take on giant ants, religious nutters and psychotic hamsters ...

Maddz: I don't do romance, but this isn't a romance (honest!)

avatiakh: Entertaining.Thraxas is a beer loving failed sorceror now working as a private inverstigator.

Bunny20: This is one of those books that you think is going to be one thing and then you realize that, yeah . . . we're going there. Bought and read and finished all in the same day. Leave your reservations at the door, because this one walks all over those and a few others you never knew you had. Enjoy!

TheLOFT: Not that the type of book you'd talk about with your parents! But nonetheless a charming, surprisingly tender collection of work from the pens of an underexplored queer subculture.

Boand: A wonderful murder mystery in a world with only cats and no humans. This one is set on the road during a musical tour by previously retired cats reliving their heydays on a tour bus. Everything solved by bed time - absolute bliss

suzemazice: Would you give up your life for a treasured family or person?

Boand: I first read this as a child but only later realised it was based on a tale from the Welsh masterpiece The Mabinogion. A great read, truly terrifying and wonderful at the same time.

haydninvienna: I say only that the title is misleading.
