September 2025 List of the Month: Books We Discovered On LibraryThing
Description
It's our 20th Birthday, and we're in the mood to celebrate! We've brought our September List of the Month forward, in honor of the day. This List of the Month is devoted to the Books We Discovered on LibraryThing. Each member may add twenty titles, and is encouraged to add explanatory notes. Did you find it through Recommendations? Did you discover it through another member, or learn about it on Talk? Perhaps it was a SantaThing gift or an Early Reviewer win? Given the personal nature of the topic, downvoting is not allowed.

Explanations
timspalding: I had heard about this elsewhere, but positive comments by members here convinced me. This is often true. LibraryThing people are just… more discerning.
witchyrichy: I discovered Martha Wells on LibraryThing. I don't think I would otherwise have found the MurderBot series as it is very different from my usual reads.
paradoxosalpha: LT Talk was definitely the first place that I noticed "buzz" around Murderbot!
charl08: LT talk persuaded me to pick this up.
merrystar: Seeing it near the top of the comfort reads list intrigued me.

mysterymax: Mentioned in talks.
karlina.klotzle: By far one of my favorite books. I listened to it as an audiobook and also read it, and it never gets old, and always makes me cry.
Sadehutton3: I read this in higjschool

Explanations
SandyAMcPherson: Like elorin, I hadn't discovered Pen & Des until I saw this series mentioned on 'Talk' in the 75ers group. A rare thing for me, I bought Penric's Progress and Travels (each having 3 novellas as an omnibus), instead of using the public library copies.
elorin: I was familiar with Lois McMaster Bujold but I hadn't read the Penric and Desdemona books until someone mentioned them in the 75ers group. I love these!

sallylou61: I was interested in reading this since she was a suffragist and had helped edit the early books of the suffrage movement in the United States
JalenV: This was an early reviewers win. I'm 70, so I grew up during the Women's Liberation Movement. (My sister was born on the 40th anniversary of the 19th amendment's ratification.) I had read about Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, but never Ms. Gage. The reason for that shocked me. Not only was her life interesting, but the speculation that she inspired both Glinda and Dorothy in her son-in-law, L. Frank Baum's, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz was intriguing.
